Case Study 1: Group Case

Client name: Robert age: 12 sex: Male

Client name: Adam age: 17 sex : Male

Client name: Abigail - age: 62 sex: Female

Assessment of Psychosocial state of clients

Problem history presentation: The problem experienced by both Robert and Adam is as a result of the boys’ parents’ situation. Their mother is a drug addict with whom they lived with in a car and father was diagnosed with schizophrenia, resulting from beatings from his father.

The current situation of the behavior of the problem: Robert does not socialize well while Adam has thoughts of committing suicide.

Current needs, immediate plans: The boys need to be thoroughly cared for and loved, considering their needs me. The boys should be shown love to prevent their current behaviors

Identification of the problem:

The main problem affecting the client’s well-being is the lack of enough protection and love from their parents are the main problems affecting the clients

Problem Severity

The problem has occurred several times since the boy’s father was diagnosed schizophrenia and left the boys to live in a car with their drug addict mother.

Hypothesis:.

The problem is occurring because there is no mutual love between the boys and their parents and even their grandmother, whom they ignore most of the times. The grandmother has not been able to show the boys enough love and care

Goal setting

Client’s Long-term goal: The client should create love between her and Adam and Robert.

Short-term objectives that will help the client reach the goals stated above: Abigail should respond well and lovingly to Robert and Adam’s needs to foster a good relationship between them. Also, Abigail should be engaged in most of the boys’ activities.

Personal strengths Abigail can use to reach her short-term objectives: Abigail should be caring, compassionate, loving, motherly, understanding and selfless to achieve her objective of taking care of the boys.

Case Study 2: Individual Case

Client name: Charlene age: 16 sex: Female

Psychosocial Assessment

Presenting problem history: Charlene’s father who is a drunkard has been physically and verbally abusing her over the past year.

The current situation of problem behavior: The physical and verbal abuse has changed Charlene’s behavior. She doesn’t dress well, and her grade has significantly dropped.

Current needs, immediate plans: Charlene needs to feel worthy and encouragement to take her studies seriously.

Identification of problems:

The major problems hindering the Charlene’s well-being are the vitriolic language, rage, and drunken rants mainly centered on her worthlessness. Her mother’s fear to protect her from father’s abuse

Problem Severity

the problem has been taking place for the past one year.

Hypothesis

The problem is happening because of Charlene’s father drunkard behavior and her mother’s fear to protect her from being abused by her father.

Setting of goals

Client’s Long-term goal: The client should feel that she is worthy, and loved by her parents. Improved performance and behavior are other long-term goals.

Client’s short term goals to help her achieve long term goals: The Charlene should seek the help of her mother in convincing her father to stop abusing her.

Personal strengths Charlene can apply in achieving short-term goals: She should be open, understanding, hopeful and hardworking to meet her short-term objective (Phillips, 1971).

Case Study 3: Individual Case

Client name: Jason age: 27 sex: Male

Psychosocial Assessment

Presenting problem history: Jason’s varying behavior pattern is attributed his family dissolution when he was a teen. Jason's decision to stay in the town away from family also prompted him to start abusing drugs.

The current situation of problem behavior: Jason is a drug addict and has a schizophrenic break.

Contemporary needs and plans: Jason needs to be confident and have faith in him. He also needs to be self- esteemed.

Identification of problems

:Major problems hindering the client’s well-being is lack of someone who can show Jason love and care which he did not get from his parents prompting him to abuse drugs.

Problem Severity

The problem has been occurring since Jason was a teen. Jason’s mother was a nurse and had a little time to spend with him thus he did not get enough parental love

Hypothesis:

The problem is occurring because Jason is separated from his family. He stays in town alone thus only opts for drug abuse.

Setting of goals

Client’s Long-term goal: Jason should live a positive lifestyle free from drug abuse.

Client’s short term goals to help her achieve long term goals: Jason should regroup with family or friends who have positive lifestyles.

Personal strengths Charlene can apply in achieving short-term goals: Jason should embrace self-confidence, hard work, and understanding of different life situations to help him achieve his goals.
