Create a Word Cloud in Microsoft Word Transcript

Hello. In this short video, I'm going to show you how easy it is to create a word cloud from the text within your Microsoft Word document

without actually leaving Microsoft Word itself. So I'll show you how to do this in a new document. I'm going to put some dummy text in here to begin with

so equals lorem five comma five, just put some dummy text in there like that. And what we need to do in order to create this word cloud, you will

need the Developer tab at the top here. Now, if you don't have the Developer tab visible, don't worry. It’s very easy to get that. All you have to

do is right-click in a blank area of the ribbon at the top of the screen somewhere, and choose “customize the ribbon.” Now, when you've done

that, have a look at the tabs list on the right-hand side here, and you'll

probably find that the Developer tab is not checked.

By default the Developer tab is not visible. So all you have to do is put a little tick in that box there, click OK, and then you will have the Developer

tab. So once we've got the Developer tab, what we have to do is click the “add-ins” button. Now, if we click “add-ins,” to begin with—unless you've

done this before—you will have nothing here at all. You'll have a link to “Store,” and you can use that link to go to the Microsoft Office Add-ins

Store, and although there are some add-ins which you can purchase, there are also many, many free ones which are really, really good, and there's one

which I've got for this, which is completely free. It's called Pro Word Cloud, and it's by Orpheus Technology Limited. And once you've installed this, you'll

go to the Store, find Pro Word Cloud, install it, and then once you've done

that, we need to click this link here and then choose “Insert” at the bottom.

This opens the panel on the right hand side, and to create a word cloud, what you'll need to do is highlight the text that you want to turn into

the word cloud. So it doesn't necessarily mean the entire document. It can be a particular part of that document. So you select the text in your

document that you want to turn into the word cloud. On the right-hand side, you have as you can see a variety of options, so you can change the font,

you can change the colors. You can do all those different options along here, mostly horizontal, half-and-half. So we can we can change all these even the

size of the image, and you can remove the common words in normal text:

“the,” “and,” “it,” or lots of stuff. So once you've chosen all the different options, then you simply “create word cloud.”

Click that button there, and it just takes a few seconds to create that.

I’ll be there in a moment. It'll appear at the top here. There we are. So once it has created that word cloud there, you can save it to the gallery and use

it. You can right-click on it, and you can save the picture as an image and save that to your computer and use it however you like. Or you can simply

copy that picture, and then over in your Word document, we can paste. There we go. So we can close this panel on the right hand side now, and you

can see there is our word cloud. And you can use that, obviously use all the formatting options available to you at the top here, just like you would for

any other picture.

So we can create the image exactly as we like, and, of course, right at

the beginning, you've got all the options for changing colors and changing themes. But again, you've got all these options down here as well. So a

variety of different tools are available for creating a really good word cloud really, really simply and easily. So I hope that was useful. If you've come
