The United States has focused on reforming the healthcare sector. This has involved the introduction of regulations that are enforced through payments, surveys, certification, and penalties. The health care system is enormous and complex meaning using mechanical approaches exposes the system to unintended consequences. In this course, I intend to understand emergent self-organized behavior and nonlinear interactions which are key to the success of a complex adaptive system in healthcare (Merali & Allen, 2011). With increased complexity, we have emergent, self-organized behaviors.
These events impact healthcare organizations like adjusting to the changing clinical trials, streamlining the supply chain to be more responsive and resilient for long-term benefits (Ratnapalan & Lang, 2020). Healthcare organizations are also challenged by building digital relationships and systems which can lead to easing physicians' burden.
In this course, I’m hoping to understand various components of complex adaptive systems, particularly in the health care sector. This will increase my knowledge of the US health care system which is exposed to mechanical and regulatory approaches. This means the health care sector should appreciate changes introduced by complex systems approach permitting creative self-organization. Understanding the existing structural boundaries which exist between professionals in the health care sector, aligning to set goals, simple rule establishment which helps in limiting costs, and enabling experimentations. Understanding how the use of complex adaptive systems increases the effectiveness of the interactions between patients, families, physicians, and all other medical practitioners to achieve quality outcomes.
My academic background will be used to inform my research in this course assignments and my dissertation. I have gathered important skills in the research process and data analysis which play a key role in tabling the results of a specific study.
