Course Project Overview

Overview

You will begin working on a course project consisting of 6 assignments/phases and considered to be “theoretical”, which will require you to apply your creative thinking skills. The purpose of this course project is to find a website or information system that has a Human Computer Interaction (HCI) problem/error and determine a solution for the problem based upon the HCI concepts learned in this course.

Instructions

Choose a Company

To begin your Course Project, you must first choose a company. It is suggested that you choose a company that you currently work for. If you do not work, here are some options: pick a company that you want to work for, your friend works for, or church.

Identify a Problem

Next, you must identify a Human Computer Interaction (HCI) problem in the company. The purpose of this course project is create a “theoretical” solution for a company by deploying a new or revised website or information system. Your “theoretical” solution to the problem will need to incorporate a user-accepted solution. To complete this course project, you will need to use all of the information systems concepts you have learned thus far in the degree program as well as the course textbooks.

Possible website problems could be: incorrect shopping cart calculations, poor website layout, or even re-designing a website to bring up to current standards. Possible Information Systems problem selection could be the design of an: Order Management System (OMS) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, Supply Chain Management (SCM), or any other system that your organization utilizes. Do not make this project problem more difficult than needed, your problem should be simple and achievable, but still a challenge. You should find a small HCI problem and create an HCI solution for something that shows your IS skills.
