Introduction

You are required to write a detailed paper on a topic related to venture capital. You can pick any topic from the list below or you can choose your own topic. Regardless, you must get approval from your instructor before you begin the project. The sooner you choose your topic and get the instructor's approval, the sooner you can begin to work on your project.

Suggested Topics:

· Develop a detailed history of venture capital and the impact it has had in the United States since 2000. Discuss how VC firms are structured, how they identify potential investment opportunities, the size of the industry, the major players, the trends in terms of growth, fund size, and other variables that help to describe this industry in detail.

· Discuss the impact of either the Internet bubble in the early 2000s or the 2008–2009 fiscal crisis on venture capital.

· Describe what you believe were the fundamental causes of the financial crisis for this topic.

· Identify the problems and issues that were present and how they could have been avoided to prevent the crisis.

· Include the changes made both in the private sector and the government sector to prevent these incidents.

· How has the crisis that you selected affected the current players; for example, entrepreneur founders, VCs, LPs, and other investors?

· What are some ways that VC firms and entrepreneur founders protecting themselves?

· As an entrepreneur founder, how do you go about getting funded by a VC?

· Write a research paper to illustrate best practices and advice on how to get your idea and business funded. Include an explanation of the other sources of funds that would not be used by entrepreneur founders and why.

· Venture capital and private equity careers: Write a paper discussing the various careers in the investment space. What is required academically, and what is the required experience or background? Is this a space that is growing?
