Organizational Security Survey

Objectives

You will be completing a security site survey and writing a paper on its findings. A sample is provided in the Files area of the Course Menu.

You've been hired as the security manager for the new DeVry corporate headquarters (The DeVry Center). Now that you have completed your final presentation to the board of directors regarding what makes a good security system and the potential risks, you will now conduct a complete site survey and evaluate the entire building.

The DeVry Center is located on a four-acre plot of land in downtown New York City. It is a 30-story corporate tower high-rise, which includes 1,250 underground parking garage spaces and a rooftop garden. Construction of the building was completed in December of 2008, and 27 of the 30 floors are occupied by tenants. Currently, there are 1,800 tenants in the building, which has a maximum capacity of 2,000.

Guidelines

· Papers must be seven to 10 pages in length. See the sample provided in the Files section of the Course Menu as a guide; however, your paper will likely be more detailed.

· 12 point font (Times New Roman or Arial only)

· 1" margins

· Double spacing

· APA format and citations are required.

· All DeVry University policies are in effect, including the plagiarism policy.

· Papers are due Week 6 of this course.

· Any questions about this paper may be discussed in the Course Q & A Forum.

· This paper is worth 200 total points and will be graded on quality of research topic, quality of paper information, use of APA citations, grammar, and sentence structure.

· No late papers will be accepted.

You will not have any formal deadlines for this paper before the Week 6 deadline. However, your instructor is available to answer questions, review drafts, and help you to succeed in this project. The following is a suggested timeline for completion of your project successfully.

Week 1 - Begin Research on paper

Week 2 - Complete Outline of Paper

Week 3 - Complete a first draft of paper

Week 4 - Seek instructor feedback on draft

Week 5 - Complete a second draft of paper

Week 6 - Have a second person read paper to ensure that it flows well
