Action Research
In general, the research has many mistakes that we need to review. We will show you the aspects that we need to change in each chapter. Please, follow the steps for the template (localized in the attachment). This teacher is very demanding, and our research must be complete by the template.
· Include title on the cover page
· Include abstract
· Introduction:
It is important that you include in the introduction our own biases and experiences, and assumptions that not only influence the study but also provided the fodder for our critical question. We are not teachers. We are behavior therapists and work with clients with autism that frequently display off-task behaviors (in this part use the information present in the statement of focus that is in the attachment). As behavioral therapists, our practice is based on the principles and procedures of behavioral theory, and we use that approach for our research and not cognitive theory.
· Include observation that is other method that we use.
· The research will be focusing on decreasing off-task behavior in students who have autism during the home learning school period.
· Literature review
We had done the literature review and it did not need to be modified. We submit the research with the correct literature review.
· Methodology
Include all research questions (you can see them in the action plan). The research questions are:
1.What factors influence the students’ off-task behaviors?
2. What is the effect of antecedent and consequent strategies on the students’ off-task behaviors?
3. What is the effect of antecedent and consequent strategies on the students’ on-task behaviors?
· Intervention
The part of the intervention did not include the instructions present in the template. Please, follow the points that are in the template. Also, in the document present in the attachment you can find information that you can use to complete this part.
You should include the first paragraph.
In this part you can use the literature review to explain these interventions:
Behavioral antecedent interventions: the delivery of reinforcement on a fixed-time (FT) schedule (sometimes referred to as noncontingent reinforcement or NCR), the high probability sequence, reducing task demands by modifying the length and/or difficulty of assignments, and provide choices.
Behavioral consequence interventions: Premack principle, differential negative reinforcement of alternative behaviors (DNRA) and reinforcement.
In addition to the interventions mentioned above, we teach replacements skills (request for assistance or attention and time on task) that allowed the students to acquire desired behaviors and reduce the task refusal behaviors.
The goals were:
Time on task: The student will increase time on task independently while refraining from engaging in maladaptive Bx in 80% of trials across 3 observations.
Request for assistance or attention: The student will ask for assistance or attention using an appropriate words or gestures independently while refraining from engaging in maladaptive Bx in 80% of trials for 3 consecutive observations.
You should correctly explain the methods that were FAST, Event Recording and Observation.
Follow the instructions on the template. In this part of the intervention, do not include the graphics and tables. Charts and tables can be included as part of analysis of results.
The change was that we needed to include a new replacement skill (request for assistance) in addition to the time on the task skill since the tasks were difficult for the students and caused them to reject them frequently. In this way, students would learn to ask for help and continue to focus on homework.
· Results
The analysis of the results is not supported by the methods and collected data. According to the template, we need to use the data to illustrate our ideas. Please, follow the instructions in the template for this part. Also, in this part is where you should include tables and charts.
· Further Reflection and Continuing Questions about My Action Research Journey (Conclusion)
You do not include this point in the paper. It is important to include this point according to the action research template.
· Conclusion
Remember that the conclusions respond to our research questions that are:
1.What factors influence the students’ off-task behaviors?
2. What is the effect of antecedent and consequent strategies on the students’ off-task behaviors?
3. What is the effect of antecedent and consequent strategies on the students’ on-task behaviors?
Follow the instructions on the action research template to complete the conclusions.
