Convenience
Bluetooth/Wireless

Explanation: In my home, television volume can be a tricky situation. One of my family members is hard of hearing and needs to have a higher volume than the rest of us. My wife and I also have a television in our bedroom. Sometimes, one of us prefers to watch TV while the other prefers to go to sleep. The ability to listen to the TV with headphones wirelessly has solved both situations. Imagine a situation in your own home where this setup could enhance your comfort, leisure time or productivity.

Bluetooth Capable Already?
Quality and versatility is an important consideration when deciding what equipment to purchase. The more you want of either one, the more you will spend. However, you may be farther along the goal of listening to your television wirelessly than you know. If you have a surround sound system hooked up to your television, check and see if it’s Bluetooth capable; you might have a Bluetooth capable television. If either is true, your conversion will be a snap.

Consider what other uses you may have for your headphones before choosing a set.

So you don’t have a Bluetooth Capable TV, Surround sound system or headphones. Then, lets line out what we need.

Bluetooth Headphones
The one thing you must have is a set of Bluetooth headphones. These come in many varieties and qualities —thus they come in many price ranges. I prefer noise cancelling, over the ear headphones for in-home use (as shown on the outside of graphic). They are not very sensible for outside activities. I also use in-ear, behind the neck mount headphones (as shown in middle of graphic). This works just fine for watching TV and for use with a smart phone during outdoor activities. There are more headphone configurations, but you may find these models to be the most comfortable and practical.

Bluetooth Transmitter
If you don’t have a Bluetooth capable TV or Sound system, you will need to purchase a Bluetooth transmitter. Amazon has many to choose from. They normally include the cables you will need. Remember, you get what you pay for.
12
Did he say transmitter or receiver?
Transmitter!!!
You may want one that can connect 2 devices at once. Remember, there is a difference between a transmitter (need) and a receiver (don’t need).

“Pairing” Mode
So, if you do have a Bluetooth (BT) compatible sound system (already hooked up to your TV) or a Bluetooth TV, you just need to open your manuals and follow the directions to “pair” them together with your BT headphones—establish a connection between Bluetooth devices.

Otherwise, you will connect your new Bluetooth transmitter to your TV.
Turn off and disconnect power to all the equipment.
Place the transmitter on a flat surface and connect the input of the transmitter to the audio out of your TV with the supplied cables. The audio or line out will be the red and white RCA jacks normally located on the back or sides of the TV.
If equipped, you may select to use an optical audio connection for increased audio quality.

Power On & Pair
Now, you can connect power and turn all the equipment on. Pair your headphones to your transmitter.
