Like the previous paper assignment, for your final paper you must perform a close reading of one the course texts. You may write about any of the texts, provided you did not already write about it in a previous paper. As before, the specific topic is up to you. The only stipulations are: (1) you must make an argument about the text (that is, you must do more than notice some interesting details—you must use them to prove a further claim or insight that someone could reasonably argue against); (2) you must base your argument on direct evidence from the text itself, paying special attention to the nuances and ambiguities of the words. I suggest that you write about a moment that particularly affected you, and do a close reading explaining how and why the text made you feel as it did. All drafts must be
approximately 4 pages in length, double-spaced, in 12-point font (in either Times New Roman or Calibri).
