HEA 530: Information About Binchley College (a Fictitious College) From Its Fictitious Website

Binchley College is a private, co-educational, residential four-year college on Virginia’s Eastern Shore that combines the closeness and intimacy of a small college with the world-class faculty in the humanities, marine ecology, and anthropology of a large university.

Chartered in 1805, Binchley boasts the nation’s first undergraduate degree programs in marine ecology and Native American studies. The Eastern Shore provides the perfect venue for investigating the mysteries of the deep in the waters that surround the Shore on three sides—the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay. Additionally, the entire Eastern Shore was home to several Native American enclaves, and Binchley archeology majors are at the forefront in excavations of its ancient villages. Many Native American descendants still live on the Eastern Shore and are active in programs at the college.

Binchley students receive a solid foundation in the arts and sciences during their first two years of study. Students select and concentrate on a major during their last two years. Binchley attracts students from all over the world, especially those interested in marine ecology and Native American studies.

Mission Statement

Binchley College seeks to nurture the intellect, imagination, and sense of responsible global citizenship of our students to prepare them for challenges that face our planet and our global community including all indigenous people.
