Grant Guide

When it comes to starting or writing a grant proposal it can be a hefty task. In order to successfully create a good grant proposal a lot of time goes into it as well as having the proper knowledge of the organization that you are requesting funds from. Proposals that are usually accepted by an organization are professional. In order to make your grant as professional as can be you should consider hiring a grant writer. You can then coordinate with the grant write and your team in order to make sure the proper information is in the proposal. Several steps need to be taken when proposing a grant proposal. As you read on i will explain the necessary step in order to have a successful grant proposal approved by the foundation.

Initiation

Starting off is no easy task the first step you should consider is who is going to be the right person to write the proposal. Like I mentioned above the best move is to hire a grant writer. When selecting from your list of grant writers make sure you look at their experience and samples of previous proposals they have written. This is where coordination comes into pilau and making sure that you, your staff, and the grant writer understand the needs, and goals, of the project. You, your team, and grant writer need to also start conducting research on choosing the appropriate foundation to grant you the money. Some foundations only will grant money for certain programs within a field. Once you have established and picked a foundation make sure you communicate with them at all times.

So now that you and your team have picked the appropriate foundations the next step is writing the proposal. When writhing the grant proposal, the grant writer should keep it simple and straight to the point. As the foundation reads the proposal you don’t want to make them confused in any shape or form. This is why it is important to keep it simple use basic words and get your goals and objectives across.

Abstract

Typically, your grant proposal will start with what is known as the abstract or executive summary. An executive summary is a brief overview of your program. In this brief paragraph your grant write has to make sure to include the specifics of the program, its objectives and goals, your budget, how the budget will be used, and the final outcomes. Remember that when writing this abstract it needs to be straight to the point, simple and concise. Make sure that as the foundation is reading the abstract, they are compelled to continue to read about your proposal.

Introduction

After the abstract is complete comes your introduction. In this section you need to include what your programs background is. The background should address goals, and accomplishments. The goals and accomplishments need to be supported by research and data. This will give confidence to the foundation about your program. Once the above items are addressed it should transition into the problem you are attempting to resolve with your program. This is the most important part of the proposal where the problem is addressed. Make sure that you create a relation between your need and the foundations needs. The foundation should be able to have an idea or identify that the problems is urgent and needs to be fixed.

Goals/Objectives

Now that you’ve established the background the next step is outlining your goals and objectives. This section is where you explain the specific goals of your program. The foundation should be able to have a complete understanding of your goals. They should also be able understand how these goals are going to solve or help the problem your program is trying to fix. You also have to make sure you include your staff in this section. The foundation must understand who is completing each goal and objective and what their qualifications are.

Methods

The next portion or paragraph of the proposal is the methods section. Here you will lay out what methods your program will use in order to achieve the goals and objectives. It should focus on the steps that are going to be taken to fic the problem and what resources you have for example programs, or services. Once you figure out what resources you will use you should explain in detail what resource will address what goals and objectives.

Budget

The budget in my opinion can be the scariest portion of the proposal. In this section the writer should explain in detail the cost of the estimate cost of the program and how much funding will be required. Make sure that the budget is outlined item by item and what the cost for each item is going to be. So, in other words how you will use the foundations money. You also need to include the staff and lost each of the separately and their salaries. This salary should be based on how much time they will be part of the program. You can also include in the budget any items being donated by individuals or other programs. This will help the foundation understand that the money will not be used for those items. make sure that the budget is looked into great detail and done properly.

Evaluation

In the evaluation section you need to outline the assessment of the program’s accomplishments. The individual who is evaluating the proposal need to be part of the team and his qualifications need to be detailed. The foundations needs to make sure and that the program will still continue to run even after the period of the grant has ended. Make sure you include how you plan to achieve the continuation of the program after the grant period is over.

Conclusion

The steps to writing a professional and successful grant proposal are crucial. Your dedication and time will have to be a big part in order to succeed. After your proposal is done have other individuals with experience read it and give you good and bad criticism if any. In the closing paragraph thank the foundation for their time and the consideration of your proposal. Also provide any information on who is to be contacted if the foundation has any questions. Lastly make sure you continue to keep communication with the foundation. Take these steps and your grant proposal will be successful and the program will acquire the proper funding.
