Description of Activity

In Chapter 1, you've been learning about how the sociocultural context influences development, as one theme of child development. For this activity, read p. 19-22 to learn about different contexts of development, such socioeconomic status, and the development of children who grow up impoverished. Then, go to the National Center of Children in Poverty's website https://www.nccp.org/ecprofile/?state=TN(copy this website into a new browser)] and read more about child poverty in the U.S. and Tennessee.

1) Describe 5 specific things you learned from these readings about the relation between child poverty and children's development and how this changes or impacts your thinking.

2) Finally, relate what you learned to observations from your own life and childhood and those around you (friends, family, etc.).
