Assignment 1 Positioning Statement and Motto

Use the provided information, as well as your own research, to assess one (1) of the stated brands (Tesla, SmoothieKing, Suave, or Nintendo) by completing the questions below with an ORIGINAL response to each. At the end of the worksheet, be sure to develop a new ORIGINAL positioning statement and motto for the brand you selected. Submit the completed template in the Week 4 assignment submission link.

Company/Brand Selected Nintendo

1. Target Customers/Users

Who are the target customers for the company/brand? Make sure you tell why you selected each item that you did. (NOTE: DO NOT say “ANY, ALL, EVERYONE” you cannot target everyone, you must be specific)

Age Bracket: For Nintendo they target ages 15-30

Gender: They are neutral mostly family-oriented games.

Income Bracket: Mid to High class seem to be who they go after based on price.

Education Level: From grade school on up.

Lifestyle: the average lifestyle can afford a video game if they choose to play.

Psychographics (Interest, Hobbies, Past-times): I feel like people who play the game buy the product for all three reasons.

Values (What the customer values overall in life): Nintendo values people having a good time while using their product.

How does the company currently reach its customers/users? Look at the methods and media the company is currently using to reach the customers/users. What methods and media should the company use to currently reach the customers/users identified above? Why have you decided up on this suggestion?

Company’s reach out to the customers through adds on social media, commercials, billboards, and radio. So, they hit you everywhere they can in a since while you’re on Instagram you may see it while you’re driving while you’re watching tv. They’re imbedding their product into your head now you want it because everywhere you turn you see it. If I was running a company, I would put adds on all streaming network like Hulu YouTube Netflix because that’s what most people watch now some people get rid of cable for it and I honestly see it taking over cable in the near future.

What would grab the customers/users’ attention? Why do you think this will capture their attention?

I think Nintendo needs to come out with a new system. They must compete with the new Xbox and the PlayStation. I would say go with something that’s completely different from those two systems. Like a complete VR gaming system only because they have already tampered with motion control with the Wii so why not add on to a product that was different than the rest got kids and adults up and active competing with each other in the comfort or there homes .

What do these target customers’ value from the business and its products? Why do you think they value these items?

When it comes to gaming people want the game to work the way it supposed to work no hick ups. We also want a challenge while playing nothing to easy or its not worth playing. The way the games look as far as graphics that’s also important.

2. Competitors

Who are the brand’s competitors? Provide at least 3 competitors and tell why you selected each competitor.

Competitor 1: Xbox is a competitor to Nintendo because there in the same market. My personal favorite.

Competitor 2: PlayStation is a competitor to Nintendo because they are also in the same market.

Competitor 3: Pc is also a competitor to Nintendo.

What product category does the brand fit into? Why have you placed this brand into the product category that you did?

What frame of reference (frame of mind) will customers use in making a choice to use/purchase this brand/service? What other brands/companies might customers compare this brand to (other than the top three identified above)?

The customers will buy this brand depending on the type of games they like. They will also consider Xbox and PlayStation.

3. USP (Unique Selling Proposition) Creation

What is the brand’s uniqueness? What makes the brand stand out with the customers? Why do you think this is a key uniqueness for this business?

Nintendo is unique when comes to classic and adventure type games. Then they mix some of the retro characters in with some of the new to keep some of the games fresh. That allows different age groups to play together. Take Mario for an example who didn’t love the classic Mario games now when a parent walks in the room and sees their kids playing with their childhood they may sit down and play to.

What is the competitive advantage of the brand? What makes the brand stand out above its leading competitors? How is it different from other competing brands? Why do you consider this a competitive advantage?

Nintendo competitive advantage is its been around longer than its competition. To be honest its taking a backseat to the competition these days and most of there sales come from there hand held console. They do have a slight edge as far as a household name which can give them a competitive advantage on some games.

What attributes or benefits does the brand have that dominate competitors? What makes the business’s products stand out above the competing products? Why do you think they dominate?

The one benefit Nintendo has is that there games are easy to grasp so anyone can pick up and play. It stands out because of the type of games they produce and you can only buy them on Nintendo. I don’t think they dominate because the don’t have the games that majority of the world plays now adays.

Using your analysis in the three questions above, create a new USP (Unique Selling Proposition for your business? Why have you decided upon this particular USP?

Newly Created Unique Selling Proposition: Bring back all the retro games all in one.

Defense/Justification of USP (Why have you created this): It will bring some of your older customers back.

4. Positioning Statement & Motto

Develop a new positioning statement and motto for the brand you selected. Below is an example of BMW’s positioning statement and motto. Discuss why you created the items that you did?

· BMW Positioning statement: The brand for discerning customers of sports cars (target customers) who want an exhilarating experience (USP).

· BMW Motto: BMW is the ultimate driving machine.

Newly Created Positioning Statement: Family gaming at its finest.

Defense/Justification of Positioning Statement Creation (Why have you created this): their games are more so geared towards family fun its games everyone can play no matter the age.

Newly Created Motto: Nintendo the ultimate family gaming.

Defense/ Justification of Motto Creation (Why have you created this):

No one does family gaming like they do. Know one has the type of games they make.
