Strategic Use of Technology

Introduction

In this paper, we will discuss how an IT scheme could be used to assist the objectives and strategies of “Maryland Technology Consulting (MTC)” also assist its decision making procedure. You are writing a business report for MTC- this first sentence shouldn’t be part of your introduction. MTC is a successful and effective IT consulting service firm that uses confirmed IT and administratioadministration? (what are administration methodologies?) n methodologies to attain measurable outcomes for its clients. MTC, like a consulting corporation, depends on the expertise and quality of IT staff to deliver the services required through for the clients or customers. Once it is presented a deal, the client supposes MTC to deliver the consultant rapidly also start work on that specific project—unclear sentence. The two major deals that MTC supposes to win will need the hiring or recruiting of 75 consultants quickly. The expected contract is just representative of the issues – the current manual process can’t meet MTC’s growth and increased hiring demands overall. Comment by Betty Ring: As noted in the assignment instructions: “Use third person consistently throughout the report. In third person, the writer avoids the pronouns I, we, my, and ours. The third person is used to make the writing more objective by taking the individual, the “self,” out of the writing. This method is very helpful for effective business writing, a form in which facts, not opinion, drive the tone of the text. Writing in the third person allows the writer to come across as unbiased and thus more informed.”

The director (Director of what?) is worried that the recent manual procedure of hiring and recruiting employees will not enable his branch department to be responsive to such requirements also the demands of upcoming growth with increased recruiting requirements – not correctly worded sentence but this is the right idea for the current problem at MTC. He is observing-wrong word choice for the best solution that will program? the hiring procedure steps also decrease the time it takes to recruit new employees. He is looking for a better solution that will enable MTC to select employee’s employees’ sites in many other states around the domain – what domain?. As a business analyst in the “Chief Information Officer’s (CIO's) department of Maryland Technology Consulting (MTC),” I would like to describe how an IT scheme could be used to assist the objectives and strategies of “Maryland Technology Consulting (MTC)”also assist its decision making procedure for better hiring.

Your introduction needs to much more clearly and concisely provide a brief overview of MTC and the current problems and then what this report will provide. The recap I’ll provide the class when I finish grading will have a couple of examples.

As noted in the assignment formatting instructions:

· In Stage 1, you are preparing the first part of a 4-stage report. Use the structure, headings, and outline format provided here for your report. Use the numbering/lettering in the assignment instructions as shown below.

I. Strategic use of Technology

A. Organizational Strategy

As a “small to mid-size business (SMB),” MTC identifies that it requires to plan its upcoming strategy sensibly – this is true of any business – doesn’t add value here. Strategic usage of IT for MTC delivers valuable visions?? into the task of CIO’s, their essential interaction with many other parts of the MTC also the external associations with suppliers and vendors – unclear what this sentence means. Strategic use of technology for MTC organization focus the requirement for stability among technology and management in the task of CIO. It also emphasis on this task like not only a specialist on IT but like a leader in the application of technology. In the Organizational Strategy section, it was important to provide insights into MTC’s strategy and direction and how a hiring system would enable or support that strategy. As MTC seeks to expand its business, earn new contracts and build its reputation in the industry, it needs a talented, highly skilled workforce. Because the IT market is competitive, there are other companies seeking the same talent. An efficient hiring practice can enable the company to achieve its goals. Current expansion plans mean more hiring, and the manual way of recruiting and hiring will not be effective moving forward. Revise for final report.

Organizational Strategy

MTC's organizational strategy is to deliver an extraordinary assessing?? or consulting recommendations and services to its clients through hiring highly skilled or expert consultants also staying well-informed of new commercial technology and concepts and emerging new commercial concepts with best uses of its own- unclear as worded. The hiring process of MTC suffers due to several issues. One field that is vital to a consulting corporation is the capability to have staff who have the necessary skills and knowledge to fulfill recent and upcoming contracts.-true statement – is this one of the issues? Need to connect with previous sentence.

Another major issue are is that the hiring process consumes a lot of time. So, these are several issues of the hiring process in MTC. In this situation, it is very important to hire the best employees to support the business strategy of MTC.  The “recruitment and selection” of the right member having complete skill and knowledge for that specific role can lead to abridged costs, consequently prominent to an amended bottom line. Better hiring or recruiting process becomes very beneficial for MTC. Effective staffing can support an organization to attain faster stages of growth and development. Rationalized, efficient staffing procedures provide higher-quality, additional engaged rentals, delivering a “competitive advantage” that directly influences on business presentation (Zimmers, 2006).

Review assignment instructions – I’m unclear what the paragraphs before the Organizational Strategy section were to address but my comments above still are relevant. As noted in the assignment instructions, this section (organizational strategy) should “(Use two to three strong sentences that explain how the system would support the strategy and justify your position with specifics from the Case Study.) While I’m not very strict on the length, you have provided far more than is required for this section. Focus on MTC’s strategy and how improving the hiring process with a technology solution will help MTC. Revise for final report.

Competitive Advantage

A “competitive advantage” is an aspect that enables a corporation to beat its competitors. Competitive benefits enable a corporation to attain greater profit margins associated withthan its competition also generate some values for the corporation also its owners – not written as a correct sentence. A “competitive advantage” must be problematic, if not impossible, to copy. If it is simply imitated or copied, it is not deliberated? a competitive benefit.- A competitive benefit differentiates a corporation from its several competitors. It also subsidizes to greater prices, additional customers, with brand reliability. Creating an advantage is one of the significant objectives of any corporation. Today, competitive advantage is important to commercial success (LetycjaSołoducho-Pelc, 2014). Assignment recommended (Paragraph of 4-5 sentences) to address this section.

Better hiring procedures help MTC to gain competitive advantages. Nowadays, the commercial world is extremely competitive. Hiring firms can also discover and select top employees who will yield outcomes. Recruiters have the complete experience also expertise needs to spot such exceptional employees through seeming at several factors than employee resumes. Moreover, as hiring firms have connections or links with several candidates with better experience, knowledge, and skills in technology, that an organization requires now also in upcoming time to stay competitive, by recruiting, explanations can also decrease employee’s turnover, which is significant both for the firm’s productivity and its bottom line to be competitive (Pahuja & Dalal, 2012).

The corporation will use this data and information form the system to hire the best employees for the specific job via easy recognition of those candidates with best knowledge and skills that the corporation requires for their customer’s requirements. The recruiting system will direct to several benefits that comprise ensuring that recruiting is less exhaustive; steadiness is always trailed during hiring; it is very easy to follow all the employees also obtainability of the system.

This isn’t about an essay on competitive advantage but needs to be focused on the environment MTC is operating in and how improving the hiring process can maintain/increase its competitive advantage. This builds off of the previous section on organizational strategy. The Case Study mentions the competitive environment that “contains many very large IT consulting firms such as Hewlett-Package (HP), Booz Allen Hamilton (BAH), and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), as well as numerous small companies…” In the interview from the Manager of Recruiting, she mentions the competitive market for IT Talent and needing to get offers to top candidates ahead of the competition. In this section, you needed to briefly describe the competitive environment and how this system can help address that to maintain/increase MTC’s competitive advantage. Being able to reach a broader audience, screen for needed skills and expertise more quickly, move candidates through the hiring process more efficiently, etc. can help MTC maintain/increase its competitive edge. Revise for final report.

Strategic Objectives

The below table displays the strategic goals, objectives, and explanations for better organizational strategy. Be more specific about what this table provides – It presents 4 of MTC’s goals along with relevant objectives and how the hiring system can help achieve those.

Strategic goal

Objectives

Explanation

Increase MTC Business Development by winning new contracts in the areas of IT Consulting.

Increase methods of winning ten new agreements in the IT consulting in the subsequent 12 months – How would you measure “increase methods”

This new hiring system will allow the corporation to hire highly skilled candidates that complete the customer purpose (what does this really mean?). It will enable recruiters to match the deals contracts appropriately to the candidate that fulfill the contract’s requirement efficiently and quickly. This will also reduce the cost and make sure skilled, and candidates are prepared for the job. This is on the right track but needs to align with clearer objective in column 2.

Build a cadre of consultants internationally to provide remote research and analysis support to MTC’s onsite teams in the U. S.

Increase worldwide hiring efforts also hire five research expert in the subsequent 12 months. This was an example provided and you should have retained the information provided: Increase international recruiting efforts and employ 5 research analysts in the next 12 months.

The new hiring system would allow applicants from around the world to apply online, increasing the number of international applicants. It would enable the recruiters to carefully monitor the applications for these positions, identify the necessary research and analysis skills needed, and screen resumes for these key skills. Recruiters could quickly view the number of applicants and identify when additional recruiting efforts are needed to meet the objective. The new recruiting system would enable candidates from all around the domain online, raising the number of worldwide candidates. It would allow the recruiters to observe the applications for such status, identify the essential research also analysis knowledge required. The recruiter can rapidly see the number of candidates also recognize once additional hiring efforts are required to meet the goals and objectives.

Continue to increase MTC’s ability to quickly provide high-quality consultants to awarded contracts to best serve the clients’ needs

Increase ten experienced candidates to serve six clients in the subsequent 12 months. Are you talking about hiring ten consultants? This is unclear – with pending contracts requiring 75+ how does this help achieve the strategic goal.?

The recruiting process will allow the corporation to match candidates to the contracts, i.e. awarded with affluence—what does this mean?. Recruiters will analyze the experience and knowledge required via the system to hire the candidates that fulfill the client requirements. Unclear explanation – the hiring system should help identify and hire top IT candidates to meet contract needs. The corporation will decrease the times to hire candidates.-this is a good point.

Increase MTC’s competitive advantage in the IT consulting marketplace by increasing its reputation for having IT consultants who are highly skilled in leading-edge technologies and innovative solutions for its clients

Rise competitive advantages in the market in the subsequent 12 months also hiring 100 IT analysts who are known to the corporation for customer’s requirements and specifications. Unclear. Provide clear, measurable objective.

The recruiting system will allow the corporation to hire the experienced candidates that fulfill the client’s requirements.-ok The corporation will position on the first position through its better service distribution to the customer-unclear. The recruiter will also examine the imitability and value with a candidate for better selection.

Revise table above to provide clearer, measurable objectives and then supporting explanations.

Decision Making

The hiring method will assist essentially during making vital decisions effectively and efficiently within the MTC IT consultant. Need to provide one clear sentence that introduces what this table provides.

Role

Level as defined in IS Course Reading

Example of Possible Decision Supported by Hiring System

Example of Information, the Hiring System, Could Provide to Support Your Example Decision

Senior/Executive Managers

Strategic

The CEO of the corporation will make sure the growth and capability in the upcoming time-unclear what this means. He will fix the methods of the specific firm?. The CEO will also make sure that the reputation and standard of the corporation are supported. These are job functions, not decision examples. the top level is strategic so the CEO isn’t thinking about a specific hiring decision, but as noted in his interview “I can’t be out in the market soliciting new business if we can’t deliver on what we’re selling.” So what is an example of a decision related to what contracts to pursue (or not pursue) that the CEO might make based on information the hiring system could provide, for example.

(All text within the table should be single-spaced) The administrator ought to specify job stipulations for their candidates. The senior administrators can relocate other issues, i.e. on board recruitment shall be effectively implemented. Describe how information from the hiring system could support the appropriate decision example.

Middle Managers

Managerial

The director will provide resumes of several new candidates that can fulfill the requirement of HR in the MTC. The manager of hiring will make sure that showing of applications, planning of interviews and recognition of qualified candidates. At the mid-level, the Director of HR and Manager of Recruiting are more concerned with decisions related to how the overall recruiting is going – is HR meeting the staffing demands and if not, decisions related to addressing that problem, etc.

The administrator shall recognize the requirement for hiring or recruiting. They shall do hiring activities by the hiring strategy. The administrator will assess the hiring process. Revise to provide what the assignment required – see column heading and assignment instructions.

Operational Managers

Operational

The administrator will route the resumes and applications through the mail by several hiring administrator getting their response on the applicants they also interview who ought to be interviewed. The administrator discovers the candidate rapidly also make screening of such candidates. At the operational level, the line manager (hiring manager) is concerned about the level of service his unit provides to CIC’s clients and the importance of having well-qualified staff members to deliver that service.

These managers will describe the tools and rules for job details or descriptions. They can also assess the execution of hiring procedures (R. Kelly Rainer, Splettstoesser-Hogeterp, & Sanchez-Rodriguez, 2013). Revise.

Think about examples of specific decisions (choices) managers at each level might need to make based on the hiring process and information coming from the hiring system. Revise for final report.

Please review comments and let me know where you have questions. I’ll also post a recap for the class when I finish grading. Although revisions aren’t graded until the Stage 4 submission, if you want feedback earlier, just note in your submission with the next stage that you have also revised Stage 1 and would like it reviewed as well. I suggest getting an early start on Stage 2 to ensure you’re on track.

While you’re provided a lot of information, often the information is not providing what the assignment requirements call for. The assignment is deliberately kept very focused to help students zero in on those relevant areas.

Assignment required a minimum of two sources incorporated with appropriate APA style – one from internal course content (but not the case study) and one from external sources. APA requires in-text citations to show specifically where information from your sources was incorporated into your writing. I see 4 external sources (although information isn’t always incorporated to add value for the assignment requirements) but I don’t see a reference for internal course content. Also review APA style – see Course Content – Writing Resources. You also have used italicized text within your writing but this isn’t part of APA style or is it clear what the italics is meant to convey.

I’d recommend for Stage 2, you take advantage of the Effective Writing Center’s services to review drafts. I’m still available to review content, but their expertise in overall writing mechanics is very valuable. Here’s a link to their service. http://www.umuc.edu/current-students/learning-resources/writing-center/submit-your-paper/index.cfm They are limited in how many assignments they can accept per day so you need to plan ahead. Unfortunately wrong or missing words and poor sentence structure is detracting from clearly presenting the necessary information.
