Buy-In of Internal and External Stakeholders.

It is natural and vital to have both internal (those working and involved in with the health care facility directly) as well as external stakeholders (those outside the facility, but still interact with it, e.g., the community) on board to make sound decisions that include implementing plans and strategies. There are different ways in which the management of a healthcare facility could get their internal and external stakeholders to buy-in, and they include:

The management should take time and explain the benefits that are going to be realized by stakeholders in their involvement in the facility. They should encourage different suggestions from them and provide them with the platform to take part in crucial decision-making, and ensure their participation is taken into consideration; this exercise may include making the decision transparent (Clarke, 2019).

Engagement is another involvement, which is about open communications and getting feedback, plus the best ideas and strategies may come from those within and outside the facility (Leviton, & Melichar, 2016). A patient from the community may know how best the facility could work to get many patients to prefer their service to other healthcare facilities in the region. Engaging those patients helps understand the specific needs of the community and in turn, support its acceptance as well as improvement.

The management should ensure there is an agreement on rules of engagement as they will lay out the responsibilities of stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure buy-in. Trust is essential, making it clear to stakeholders that their opinions and suggestions are taken seriously, and will make the stakeholders feel directly involved, having an impact on the management process.
