BRANDON’S POST:

The kinds of pressure women face today compared to a decade ago is the pressure to look beautiful and have the perfect body. I think men do face similar pressure because the pressure to be good looking and have a perfect body applies to both male and female. Gender shapes career and aspirations and choices because like I said before, people have a want to be what society thinks as "perfect." People who do not feel like they are beautiful, will tend to hide away and maybe not take career opportunities because they are very insecure with themselves.

RINZY’S POST:

So, a decade ago I was in the 7th grade and really wasn't thinking about women or their pressures. I was trying to understand Jr. high school and all the things that go on with being a teenager, but I do remember my mom complaining about society wanting women's bodies to be a certain size or look a particular way. Also, she complained about how status was important but people weren't concern about your character. I believe today it's pretty much the same for women. It's not fair but women go through a lot of craziness, but just like forever women are still fighting, for example, the #metoomovement, rights for abortion, and rights for fair and equal pay. I feel that young men are facing more pressures than years ago because they are part of different communities where they are expressing freely, for example, wearing skirts, heels, and make-up and still being heterosexual. It is said that gender shapes our choices and career aspirations that men want and get the higher-paying jobs and women usually are given the lower-paying job. Women are now are fighting for the right to equal pay.

SHANETTE’S POST:

A decade ago, it seems that the transgender reign was not as prevalent. Now, transgender women can enter sports. That seems to be the most pressure that I have noticed from a decade ago. Men, well, they may have pressure today to become the bread winner when they have no job, and a loss of income, due to many government pressures. Not only government pressures but we are currently in a pandemic as well. Well, judging from experience, I have not had the greatest jobs, but I have worked in jobs that include manual labor. I have worked outside and I have also enjoyed my jobs that I have worked outside as well. I don't think there is any job that men can do that women can't.
