Purpose

This document provides necessary information to guide learners to undertake the assessment of the following unit.

Unit summary and application

This unit describes skills and knowledge required to determine strategic change requirements and opportunities; and to develop, implement and evaluate change management strategies.

It applies to managers with responsibilities that extend across the organisation or across significant parts of a large organisation. They may have a dedicated role in human resources management, human resources development, or work in a strategic policy or planning area.

The unit takes a structured approach to change management and applies to people with considerable work experience and organisational knowledge.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Assessment 2 – case study and CHANGE MANAGEMENT PLAN

The board of Australian Rural Development Bank is not satisfied with its progress and performance of the last five years. Having identified with the lack of rural awareness in policy makers, inability to deploy modern/robust banking technology, discouraged staff to work in remote Australia and inconsistent client experience, the CEO has decided to introduce some organizational changes in the bank. As a change management expert, you are granted a contract to manage the changes in the organization. Your job is to perform the following tasks to bring organizational changes in the bank.

· Identify change requirements and opportunities

· Develop change management plan

· Implement change management plan

You have been provided with a template to use for the change management plan below.

Some of the types of organizational change and some examples under each type are given below, for your information.

· Transformational changes: Adopting radically different technology, training on new skills, implementing major strategic and cultural changes, reforming products, and services offerings, etc.

· People-centric changes: Hiring new employees, changing policies related to employees, changing roles and responsibilities, etc.

· Structural changes: Introducing a new department or teams, changing the organizational chart, merging of organizations, etc.

· Remedial changes: Additional trainings to manage underperformance, upgrading the existing infrastructure, addressing communication issues, etc.

This assessment includes the following tasks to complete:

PART A: Identification of change requirements and opportunities

· Identification of the needs for change through review and analysis of organizational objectives, policies, and practices.

· Monitoring of external environment to identify events and trends that impact the organizational change

· Identify major operational change requirements due to performance gaps, business opportunities or threats or management decisions, through consultation with stakeholders

PART B: Development of change management plan

· Cost-benefit analysis for high priority change requirements and opportunities

· Risk analysis to identify barriers to change

· Development of change management project plan

· Obtaining approvals from relevant authorities to confirm the change management process

· Resource requirements and reporting protocols

Instructions: In 200 words,

Write about the background of Australian Rural Development Bank(ARDB) and explain about its organizational objectives, policies, and practices.

In background you may include ‘When was the bank established? When did it receive banking license? What are the objectives of the bank? Please note that this is RURAL DEVELOPMENT BANK. 2.2 Constraints for changes

Instructions: In 50 words explain the constraints of the changes. Do not confuse it with barriers for changes. Constraints mean limitations related to the organizational changes here. You can talk about three constraints.

Assessment 3 – Implementing change management Plan

After you develop change management plan and determine change management process, your job is to ensure a successful implementation of the change management plan. The CEO of the rural development bank has requested you to identify the issues that he might face in relation to the implementation of the changes. He has also requested you to come up with the strategies to successfully implement the changes in the company.

To ensure a successful implementation of change management plan in the rural development bank;

1. Develop and suggest a communication or education plan to promote the benefits of the changes to the organization and to successfully embed the changes. (200 words)
