Part 1. My professional profile
My name is Taraneisha Williams. I am a native of Greenville, MS. I am a graduate of Greenville- Weston High School. I am currently enrolled and pursuing my BS degree in early childhood education at Walden University. The field of early childhood education has always been a part of my life. My grandmother has been in the Head Start field for more than 25 years. I am a proud product of Head Start and glad on being introduced to the environment I grew up in. I am currently working as an Early Head Start Teacher here in Greenville, MS. I have worked with ages birth to ages 2 years old since 2013. However, Early childhood have greatly influenced me by having the real opportunity to make a difference in young lives, and also influence future generations. Working as an Early Head Start Teacher is awesome because we get to work year round with our babies. In this field, It's about being part of the child's development, seeing them grow and learn new things, and developing a trusting and strong relationship with the child and their family.”
Moreover, early childhood education has greatly influenced me since I have a good opportunity to make a difference in future lives, influencing future generations. In early childhood education, the educator forms part of thechild's development, both preschool-age and school-age, as cognitive and behavioral development. A head start educator helps the kid learn new things in the environment and develops a strong and trusting relationship with thechild's family. In accessing the child as they learn new things, the early childhood educator helps the child to develop mentally.
The tempo program enables one to control and personalize learning costs, learning lengths, and program pacing. The tempo program also encourages online learning flexibility. I enrolled in a bachelor of science in early childhood studies tempo program because it allowed me to learn online without leaving my home premise. Moreover, the tempo program provides a conducive working and learning aspect at a pace appropriate for people. I have always had a passion for seeing kids smile and engaging together with kids in every work they do. Watching kids smile is a life-changing criterion hence Early childhood education is a creative and engaging career path. The bachelor of degree in early childhood education equips me with the ability to stimulate and identify child creativity development. The bachelor of degree program nurtures me to be professionally qualified and highly skilled in handling kids at their formative ages. I prefer working with kids because I am reminded of how exciting and amazing the globe can be. Looking at their eyes and seeing amazing things makes me more positive and happier daily. Kids encourage me to use my imagination to create more creative ways of performing various activities.
Part 2. My core professional belief
I demonstrate concern and responsibility as an educator by providing my full attention to the parents, staff, and kids. Aneducator's attitude illustrates better judgment while maintaining enthusiasm and making decisions that reflect due to stronger ethics in an educator. Early childhood educators'' beliefs impact kids'' interaction, decision-making, and development. Beliefs assist early educators in identifying thekid's potential and making decisions about thekid's activities. The collaborative relationship gives children autonomy over the education process, allowing for fairness, justice, and equality in education for kids. Social advocacy aims at causing fairness, justice, and equality among individuals. The advocacy empowers kids to be aware of their rights and communicate for themselves, exercising their rights when required. The advocacy allows children to get involved in decision-making about their future lives.
Part 3. My professional interests and recommended resources
The specific early childhood areas of interest to me are; speech and language development and cognitive development. Achild's speech and language development interest me because it is important forchildren's thought process, like forming a relationship with their teens and solving problems. Language development assists the kids in communicating about how they feel and what they need. The kids apply speech and language development skills in communicating and understanding others. At this developmental stage, the kid starts to identify that some toys make sounds, make different sounds, use their voices to express pleasure, and move their eyes in sound direction.
Cognitive development, this developmental stage interests me because it is the stage that the children practice learning about the things around them, explore and reach out and focus their vision properly. It is the learning process of thekid's reasoning, thinking, language and memory. The learning sounds in this stage are sounds that a kid produces, like ""da-d."" The developmental stage gives the kids various ways of paying attention to thinking about the things around them in the world, what they do, and see people around them do. The activities that a child does daily impact their cognitive development. The child can complete two to three puzzle pieces, and the kid understands the use of the items used in the home daily, like plates, and the kid starts playing with animals like dogs and dolls/toys.
Part 4. My professional goals for practice and growth
I have a goal of becoming a certified kindergarten teacher in woodlands state. When I complete the bachelor of degree in the tempo program, I would like to succeed in mymaster's degree. AMaster's degree has meaning to me as an early childhood professional because it opens the door to newer career opportunities by providing opportunities for developing new skills. The degree will also make me enjoy greater job security by earning a good salary than individuals with only bachelor's degrees.
I have a goal of looking for a mentor and working with the mentor to strengthen and guide my professional development by applying the knowledge I have acquired to advocate for crucial issues affecting the kids and families in my community. Finding a mentor helps me develop new skills that I might not be in a position to know since a mentor is more skilled than I am. On gaining these skills, will help me strengthen my profession as an educator, as I will be able to apply the knowledge that I have gained from my mentor in solving various problems that might arise when in the field of my profession.
I can aim to achieve my master's degree goal by working hard in my profession as an educator to acquire some amount that can help me fund my studies or even apply for a scholarship in various institutions offering the course.
