Annotated Bibliography: Autoethnography

De Grez, Luc, Martin Valcke, and Irene Roozen. "The impact of an innovative instructional

intervention on the acquisition of oral presentation skills in higher education." Computers & Education 53.1 (2009): 112-120. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.compedu.2009.01.005

In this article, researchers Grez, Martin, and Irene present a study on boosting oral presentation skills by incorporating a multi-media based instructional approach. The research article deeply investigates modes of feedback and the consequences they show on presentation. The researchers concluded that the quality of oral presentation is boosted by the approach with no significant effect on feedback. This study is essential in my autoethnography since it highlights the oral presentation skills needed in school during presentations of assignments or projects, which I seemed to lack now in my sophomore year.

Elliott, Carole Jane, and Michael Reynolds. "Participative pedagogies, group work, and the

international classroom: an account of students' and tutors' experiences." Studies in Higher Education 39.2 (2014): 307-320. https://doi.org/10.1080/03075079.2012.709492

This article by Elliott and Michael is grounded on the experiences they got by working with student groups. The paper majors on the importance of students working in groups embracing participative ways. The authors highlight that inclusiveness avails an avenue for the students to learn from each other and foster democracy. This article is of much relevance to my autoethnography. It highlights the importance of ensuring that student groups should benefit and elevate everyone involved and not just let all the work be done by a member who is presumed more knowledgeable than the others.

Moore, Don A., and Paul J. Healy. "The trouble with overconfidence." Psychological review

115.2 (2008): 502. https://psycnet.apa.org/doi/10.1037/0033-295X.115.2.502

Moore and Paul present a theory revolving around the different troubles associated with overconfidence. The authors give a candid explanation of what overconfidence entails. The bottom line in these various explanations is that it involves placing oneself in high regard as far as one's abilities are concerned than others. The study is indispensable in my autoethnography.
