Annotated Bibliography
You will create an annotated bibliography using the modified CSE citation format given on the course website and the UWT library webpage to get you started on your research paper. This bibliography will contain a variety of sources that focus on the subject of your paper so that you can use these sources when writing your paper.
List your sources in alphabetical order.
What is an annotated bibliography?
An annotated bibliography is simply a bibliography that includes a summary of the contents of each of your sources. For example:
Secord D, Kareiva P. 1996. Perils and pitfalls in the host specificity paradigm. BioScience 46: 448-53.
This primary scientific article by Secord and Kareiva discusses some of the biological and public policy problems associated with the concept of host specificity applied to biological control of pest organisms. The authors cite many examples of the evolution of host shifts in basic and applied systems, and warn against blanket acceptance of specificity testing as a solution to ecologically damaging host shifts by species in various taxa. They recommend some possible solutions, including consideration of chemical ecology of insect herbivores, genetic diversity of interacting species, and greater use of augmentation with native control organisms.
