Why Does it Seem so Hard to Get into College? (2019, May 29). Retrieved December 01, 2020, from https://premiumprep.com/why-does-it-seem-so-hard-to-get-into-college/

This article is talking about how hard is to get into college and how is this painful for students and making it hard for them to admit for schools. Nowadays is becoming more complicated and harder to admit to schools, because of the number of applicants that schools get every year. Therefore, the increase number of applicants will decrease the acceptance rate which will lead to anxiety and panic for the students who are applying.

I am writing this report to the Architecture department in Portland State University. This article will be relevant when I talk about how hard is applying to school and specially if a student trying to move forward from the 2nd to the 3rd year while he is applying to his current school.

Goldschmidt, G., Sebba, R., Oren, C., & Cohen, A. (2002). Who should be a designer?: Controlling admission into schools of architecture. National Institute for Testing & Evaluation.

The author in this article is talking about the differences and the changing of the architecture admission through the years in many countries. There are three kinds of degrees in the architecture program which are non-professional degree, professional degree, and graduate degree. Many schools have different requirements for each degree, and some has a strict requirement only for the graduate degree.

This article will be relevant to my report when I mention the need of a change in the admission of the architecture program. It is changing through out the years depending on studies and surveys that is done on that matter.

Dodge, L., & Derwin, E. B. (2008). Overcoming barriers of tradition through an effective new graduate admission policy. The Journal of Continuing Higher Education56(2), 2-11.

This article is talking about new admission policies which allow candidates who have experience to have better opportunities to get in the program instead of the traditional admission which is by having a higher GPA.

This will be relevant to my report when I mention the better opportunity and priority for current students in the university to continue their education instead of competing with transfer students that are applying with a better GPA. I think that a current student who has all of the requirements with an experience in the school has priority to get in the 3rd year than other transfer students.
