The authors advanced that alcohol and substance abuse result in different disorders and adverse impacts that present numerous burdens to individuals, their families, and communities. A significant portion of the mortality rate in the United States is attributable to alcohol and substance abuse, which shows the need for implementing effective and immediate interventions. Alcohol and drugs are associated with numerous adverse outcomes such as breaking of marriages, homelessness, the development of mental disorders, and increased chances of incarceration, among others. This study is adequate for the research because it provides substantial information regarding the issues and patterns of drug and alcohol use among individuals from African American backgrounds. It will help to analyze their problems and risks that they could develop from persisting with problematic behaviors.
