Complete the Elements of an Epic Hero handout for the epic poem, Beowulf.

Essay Prompt:

After reading Beowulf and looking at the characters and their

relationships with each other, write a well-organized and supported

essay in which you demonstrate how the following three values impact

the characters and their relationships: loyalty, bravery, and leadership.

Be sure to include textual evidence from each stage of the epic,

including battles from the beginning, middle, and end. Do not merely

summarize the epic poem. There should be an analysis of how these

three values are present throughout Beowulf.

Requirements:

- Each student will be required to type and submit a minimum of five paragraphs.

- Each student will be required to ATTEND ONE SESSION with the Siegel High School Writing Center staff.

o These 18 staff members are available before school, PI time, all three lunches,

and after school to help

o We will review the appointment sign-up process. There will be more than 300

opportunities to attend

- Your paper will be highlighted appropriately before turning in it (more info to come).

- This paper MUST be completed and submitted through TEAMS. o NO LATE ESSAYS WILL BE GRADED. You all have a full two weeks to

complete it.

o Regardless of personal absences or school cancellations, the essay window will

remain the same.
