Review your work from Week Three and Week Four prior to starting this assignment.

As an emergency manager it is important to anticipate different types of emergencies and to have an emergency operations plan (EOP) developed for possible emergency situations.

 

Imagine you work in a local emergency management office and have been asked to create an EOP in case a situation similar to the vignette you selected in Week Three happens in your area. To do this you will use your knowledge of the vignette you selected in Week Three as well as the lessons learned and best practices you researched from the after action report in Week Four to create the EOP for your area.

Select one annex from the list below. It can be a Functional Annex or Hazard Specific Annex. You will focus on this annex while you create your EOP for your area.

 

Read section 3 of Appendix C in Developing and Maintaining Emergency Operations Plans: Comprehensive Preparedness Guide 101 to understand the difference between a Functional Annex and a Hazard Specific Annex. (Appendix C is attached)

Create an EOP for your area for a disaster that is similar to the vignette you selected in Week Three. Incorporate lessons learned and best practices from Week Four; specifically address the annex you selected above. Your plan must include the key elements of an EOP. You may complete your EOP in a Microsoft® Word document or choose to research and use an EOP template using your preferred search engine and web browser. You can use search terms like “emergency operations plan template.” Include the following in your plan:

· Key elements of an EOP

· Address considerations that need to be made to ensure the annex you selected is accounted for in each part of the EOP.

· Communication plan, using current technology, that would support the annex you selected
