Project Scope

Project Description

This app would provide a platform where people can use their personal vehicles for moving services for customers in their geological area.  The potential customers would be in a situation where the objects they need to get from one place to another are way too big for their own vehicles.  This is where our service is applicable.  Our app would allow for these customers to make an appointment with a driver based on their objects’ dimensions.

Our app makes it affordable for a lower income demographic and college students, specifically, to move larger objects between apartments or even buy large furniture or objects at stores and get them home.  It is our goal to make it possible for people with limited budgets to have our services at a discounted price.

Preliminary Features

· This app should have scheduling capabilities available that are easy to navigate

· The ability to upload the dimensions of the object(s) needed to be moved

· The application needs to be able to make an appointment with a driver once a suitable one is available and chosen

· A flat rate should be calculated based on the dimensions of the item and information should be made available to both driver and customer

· The drivers should be categorized as available only if they are compatible with the entered dimensions of the item

· An interactive geographical map should be available on the app and only shows within 30 miles of the customer’s location

· A payment function should be available on the app and is expected to accept: PayPal, debit cards, and Venmo

Exclusion List

· This app does not have a corresponding website and is not compatible with HTML

· This app will be used locally and will not be globalized in the near future

· This app will not be used as a taxi service at any time

· This application is not a store and therefore does not have vendors selling goods

Additional Project Issues

Quality

This project’s quality will be measured through scheduled check ins either weekly or biweekly based on the project timeline. This is accomplished through questions asked by the analyst to the client as well as having the client approve every stage of the project. This will keep the project on track and within scope. Once applicable, regular meetings will occur with the builder to explain scope and to make sure the builder is staying within the clearly defined scope.

Procurement

For the purpose of this class, this application will only require an analyst and a builder. This application will also require some sort of software that the builder can use to prototype the application. This project would also need a budget that is large enough to cover one analyst and one builder’s hours worked. The owners of this app may need to hire a sort of support services that takes care of complaints via email. The cost of a domain name and advertisement within the app store may also be applicable to this project once launched.
