Background and Significance of the Problem
In the provision of healthcare services, quality is key. One element associated with quality is patient safety. Usually, physicians are considered as the healthcare champions by both the clinicians and patients. However, the physicians spent about thirty minutes each day with the patients while the nurses constantly interact with the patients, their families, the physicians, the pharmacists, as well as with other healthcare team members. The nurses play a significant role in ensuring patient safety through error detection and near misses, monitoring the patients, understanding care weaknesses and processes inherent in systems together with other duties which ensure the patient gets quality healthcare.
The significance of the problem is that the results of the study will be used to develop strategies for reducing job stress among nurses.
