Job description and position purpose: As a Geologist, you will be part of the Geology team that supports the Director of the department and site manager with tender projects and analysis of on-site samples and conditions. Your work will also extend to interpret geological information in project reports, conduct field studies to analyse project data and create post-project reports. You will need to be familiar with a variety of maps and techniques in order to qualify for this role. Annual Salary: AUD $73,000 {may vary depending upon experience} Job requirements/qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Science/Geology/geophysics/environmental engineering • 2-3 years of experience involving both physical and office work • Proficiency in English and mathematics • Basic programming skills is an added benefit • Adaptable to flexible working conditions and hours (depending on project

requirements) Key responsibilities:

• Collect and record sample data from test site • Compute and Process data obtained from site • Supervise and guide all workers in your team. • Check, evaluate and record all soil investigation • Conduct field tests and record all test results. • Prepare site investigation reports according to ISO standards and requirements. • Attend project and company meetings when required. • Prepare all machineries, equipment, accessories and transportation required with close

coordination with the respective departments. • Ensure safe operations of field work and works performed in accordance to the risk

assessment and safe work procedures. • Assist the Project Team to carry out site investigation. • Report to the Senior Manager on matters which require her attention. • Coordinate with main contractors on all site work matters. • Coordinate with mechanics on maintenance of machineries and equipment. • Ensure all company’s machineries, equipment and properties are well taken care of at

all times.

Reporting relationships:

• Reporting to Site Manager with weekly reviews on projects (and ongoing project progress).

• Responsible for leading the Drillers & Workers and inspect their work from time-to- time.

• Report to the Senior manager (if in need) about project progress. • Research analysts - To discuss samples obtained from sites

Knowledge/skills/ability:

• Interest for the natural world and geography • Excellent scientific and technical skills • Good observation skills • Strong spoken and written communication skills • Methodical approach, including to solving problems • Excellent general fitness • Good interpersonal skills • Good team player • Proactive and self-motivated. • Able to work independently and under pressure. • Organised with good problem-solving skills. • Familiar with GoCAD (3D modelling software) • Proficient with Adobe Illustrator (Mapping/cartography softwares) • Familiar with Oracle spatial (Spatial database software) • Familiar with 3D studio Max (3D visualisation software) • Proficient with MS Office with special emphasis on Word and Excel • Familiar with survey monkey and google forums • Familiar with Google Earth

Machinery:

• Familiar with range of compasses to use in physical site o Classic, Modern & Digital

• Familiar with use of rock hammers • Familiar with use of hand lens and magnifying glass • Ability to interpret, construct and analyse topographic maps • Ability to interpret Bathymetric maps • Ability to draw and analyse isoline maps • Familiar with all geological symbols used on maps • Ability to interpret and analyse weather maps • Ability to devise surveys and compute responses

Working Hours: Depends on the which duty you are assigned to:

• 6-8 hours (standard hours) if working in office/laboratory for analysis or report writing

• Site work - involves drilling, testing, and collecting samples you may have an irregular schedule. Usually about 2-3 weeks.

Work conditions: Fieldwork and research trips involve a lot of work overseas, and in various (sometimes harsh) climate conditions. This type of work could be physically demanding, depending on the project and conditions.

• Site work ~ Requires strenuous hiking for long hours. You will also be exposed to direct sunlight and a lot of dust and sand.

o Beneficial to know basics to mountain/rock climbing as some sample collections require repelling into canyons.

§ If required ~ can do an allergy test for dust prior to visiting the site to understand severity of allergy (if candidate has allergy).

• Beneficial to know driving (especially desert vehicles) as some sites are located in areas where it is safer to travel by vehicles.

Attire for on-site work ~ Covered T-shirts with company vest, Trek pants (or any comfortable pants that don’t restrict movement), Hiking boots and backpack, Masks and UV protection (based on person) Attire for office work ~ Semi-formal attire -> MALE: Preferably clean shaved; FEMALE: Minimal makeup Employment type: Full-time with exemption for public holidays.

Geologists who return from overseas trips are entitled to 2 working days off (duration depends on seniority) during their week of return (could vary based on workload). Leave for personal reasons will be granted but a formal letter must be submitted to the HR with a valid reason
