Critical Reflection
ASSIGNMENT 1 – part 1
Sport was an important part of me growing up. This culture I had, came down from generations in my family. Not only were we passionate about sports, we were also competitive. I have heard about my father compete with his siblings over who was better, which team they supported was better. And this competitive behaviour was passed down to us as I still do the same with my brother.
I used to practise and play sports six days a week not only because I enjoyed and thrived for it, but also in the hopes of becoming better than my elder brother. It was not that I was bad, I was rather good I think. But my brother in truth was exceptional. In our school, we had a sports team in every class and he was the best in his, and his class’s team almost always won. I probably could become a lot better if I learnt from him but I wanted to be good all by myself without his help.
Now that I think about it, this drive of sports and competitiveness I had led me to stay more active, more focused, made me more responsible, helped me communicate better with my teammates which helped build me as the man I am today.
