This article from the Southern Banner dated 11.1.1860 and 11.6.1860, is regarding the upcoming election between Lincoln & Brackenridge, with the the south fearing the abolition of slavery, should Lincoln win? One of the 3 main reasons why the south wanted to secede from the union was the issue of slavery?

This edition of the paper deals with the vitriol fears and concerns of the south regarding the freedom of slaves, there was concerns as to how this freedom would impact elections, swaying the vote, holding office, this progress was paranoid hysteria. They felt that the call to action for southern to vote democratic instead of republican to a win for the Breckinridge/ ticket was detrimental in holding on the values the south represented and vowed to maintain?
