The editor of The Clarion, DU’s student newspaper, has commissioned you to write a front-page article on the current state of the United States economy. In your article, you should present on an argument on how the U.S. economy is currently performing, articulate to your reader why this is an effective argument, and provide supporting data. This means your work should (a) explain each of the three macroeconomic goals andan alternative goal and (b) you should support your argument with current economic data for allfour goals.
Your article should be 750-1000 words in length. All resources used in the essay should be properly cited and from credible academic sources.
The in-class data collection on Thursday May 16th(Homework 7) is designed to support you in gathering the information that you need to write this article. However, as the author, you still need to edit this information to successfully address the questions asked in the assignment and to tell an engaging story to your audience.
The following questions will guide the grading of your work. It is also recommended that you review the assignment rubric on Canvas.
Macroeconomic Goals
· Was a perspective on the current state of the economy effectively communicated throughout the article?
· Were each of the three marcoeconomic goals
and
an alternative measurement of economic success accurately & completely explained to the reader?
· Was accurate evidence (including current data) offered to support discussion of each of the goals and the alternative presented?
· Were sources appropriately referenced?
Readability
· Does the author draw the reader in?
· Is the argument articulated well?
· How well was the article organized?
· Was it clear and concise?
· Was it appropriate for the audience ?
· Was it the appropriate length and format?
· Is the article edited well?
