1. Problem formulation and preparatory work (10%):

− Articulate the problem at an appropriate level of detail, considering key variables, objectives and assumptions etc.

− Provide a process map at the appropriate level of detail, considering the purpose of the modelling exercise and project objectives.

2. Model building and simulation (30%):

− Set all relevant parameters required to ensure fidelity of the modelling exercise. − Represent elements of the real world system in simulation model with appropriate

objects, considering the purpose of the modelling exercise.

− Define and implement process logic, data types/formats and user interfaces to achieve the desired modelling objectives.

3. Analysis of results and problem diagnosis (20%):

− Identify relevant process attributes and performance measures required for analysis, considering the purpose of the modelling exercise

− Use simulation results to develop analytical insights and the diagnosis of process and performance issues

4. Identification and validation of solutions (20%):

− Identify and prioritise key process/performance issues/problems need addressing − Develop and test alternative solutions to address the key issues identified − Evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of selected solutions using simulation results

5. Articulation and justification of Recommendations (10%):

− Present comprehensive and actionable recommendations with adequate justifications to address the key issues/problems identified

6. Report structure and presentation standard (10%):

− Demonstrate a professional presentation standard with a suitable report structure, content, language and evidence supporting claims for action (recommendations).
