Mission and Vision
Prior to Assignment, discuss the following quote: “Visionaries look into the future and see things not through the lens of current reality, but through the lens of future possibility”. – Kara Claypool
Description:
1) Work in groups of 3-4 and research online the examples of vision and mission statements that different companies have. Pay special attention to how they describe a company’s fundamental idea, goals and competitive advantages.

2) Share what you think are the most interesting examples with the rest of the class. Then, in one paragraph (5-6 sentences) write a summary of what you shared with the class about what you think are the most interesting vision and mission statements and why.
3) Think about a business you would like to start. Feel free to use the same idea of a business you have selected for your Capstone Project. Formulate the mission and vision statements of your business.
Keep in mind that a mission statement focuses on the business today: what the business does, whom it serves and how it serves them. A vision statement focuses on the future: the business’s purpose, aspirations, what problem they are solving, and who and what is it inspiring to change.
4) Submit your original mission and vision statements to the Assignment 4 Dropbox folder on D2L.
