The social service organization which I’m attached to is the American Red Cross society. This is an international nonprofit organization that has the responsibility of providing emergency assistance, disaster relief, and disaster preparedness education the United States of America. This organization has perfectly fit in the community in relation to the human services it has offered during the disasters. The governments have equally looked up to this organization as one of the solutions of providing human services during disasters. What has majorly made this organization fit in the American disaster prone communities is the fact that people appreciate their charitable services. (Cross, 2011)
The American Red Cross society has a mission that is geared towards ensuring there is the universal assistance to people during disasters. Just as hinted in its mission statement, it offers various services that are majorly meant for the wellbeing of disaster stricken victims. The emergency services they provide include providing basic needs such as foods, clothing and medicine to people who have been stricken by disasters. The organization equally provides educational insights on the steps that one should utilize in preparation, mitigation and response to various disasters. (Cross, 2011)
The objectives of the American Red Cross organization have placed its position in a very substantial position in the network of services. The human services consist of a broad spectrum of elements that have been achieved by this particular organization. The process of effectively offering the human services have been enabled by the fact that it has structural organs that helps it run its activities. Each and every organ has committee members that have been tasked with different roles specific services. When all the organs within the organization dispense their services at ago, the organizations have effectively fit in the network of human services. (Dulles, 1950)
The American Red Cross organization has had a very charitable history with the community in which they dispense their services to. The founding of the organization dates back to the year 1881 and since its inception, most American communities under disasters have attested the fact that they have effectively been assisted during disasters by this organization. In reference to my previous assignments, most hurricanes have hit the United States of America and the American Red Cross societies have played a critical role in ensuring disaster victims are attended to. As of November 2017, the organization scored a B+ at the charity watch and three out of four stars in the charity navigator. (Dulles, 1950)
The American Red Cross organization is one of the charity organization that operate in consultations. For instance, when a disaster strikes, it has a committee that carries out evaluation of such disasters with various state agencies to determine the magnitude of help they are supposed to offer to such people. It equally have an advisory council that is charged with the responsibility of giving out directions on various course of actions to be undertaken in the process of dispensing disaster related services. (Cross, 2011)
The American organization is involved in many outreach activities that have majorly been intended to promote public awareness of various communities. The outreach activities have majorly been achieved through media houses that have been very instrumental in sensitizing people about the organizational agenda. Some of the outreach activities involve providing disaster preparedness educational activities. The American Red Cross society has a website that provides information about various disasters in the history of the United States. The website has also information that revolves around disaster preparation, mitigation and response. (Dulles, 1950)
