I D

What is the purpose of a psychometric chart?

A psychometric chart defines the condition of the air for any given property.  In other words, they are complex charts that can be used to assess the physical and thermodynamic properties of gas vapor mixtures at a constant pressure.

Respond to I D:

What property of air defines its total heat content and how does this work?

When considering the effect of changes in humidity on other properties of air, the humidity ratio must be considered. As the humidity ratio increases, the latent heat content of the air also increases. As the humidity ratio decreases, the latent heat content of the air also decreases. Therefore, humidity is the property of air that defines its total heat content.

What is the difference between dry and wet bulb temperature?

Wet bulb temperature (wb) is a measurement of the amount of moisture in the air. It is measured with a wet bulb thermometer. A dry bulb (db) is a measurement of sensible heat. It is a thermometer that measures dry bulb temperature.

Respond to DG

When should plumbing inspections be performed?

The plumbing system must be tested and inspected to certify that systems meet plumbing code requirements. Plumbers are required to furnish all of the equipment necessary to conduct plumbing system tests. In general, plumbing systems are tested and inspected in the sequence in which they are installed. The sequence is as follows:

· Sanitary drainage and vent piping

· Storm water drainage system

· Potable water supply and distribution system

· Plumbing fixture installation

What is the purpose of a psychometric chart?

This chart defines the condition of the air for any given property. The psychometric chart is available for standard and special conditions such as, higher or lower than normal pressures or higher than normal temperatures. Properties of air found in these charts are dry bulb temperature, relative humidity, humidity ratio, wet bulb temperature, dew point, enthalpy and specific volume. Properties of the air define the condition of the air.

Respond to JR

What property of air defines its total heat content and how does this work?

Enthalpy (h) is the total heat contained in a substance measured from a baseline of 32⁰F and is the sum of sensible and latent heat. Enthalpy tells how much energy is used or released when a substance grows or shrinks.

What is the difference between dry and wet bulb temperature?

Dry bulb temperature is the measurement of sensible heat. Sensible heat is measured in Fahrenheit and Celsius and is applied to simple temperature controls in HVAC systems such as the turning ON/OFF of equipment.

Wet bulb temperature is the measurement of the amount of moisture. It is read by a thermometer covered in water-soaked cloth over which air is passed.

Respond to V V

When should plumbing inspections be performed?

Plumbing inspections are realized by plumbing inspectors and should be scheduled after a plumber determines that requirements are met on a plumbing system. They usually require a 1 day notice prior an inspection.

What is the purpose of a psychrometric chart?

The purpose of this chart is to define the condition of the air for any given property. Psychrometric charts are available for standard conditions and special conditions. This conditions are higher- or lower-than-normal pressures or higher- or lower-than-normal temperatures. The properties defined in this chart are dry bulb temperature, relative humidity, humidity ratio, wet bulb temperature, dew point, enthalpy, and specific volume.
