Once you have downloaded this document, read it and prepare a paragraph or two – length

response to the following. Be sure to answer ALL the questions. 1) In his closing sentence,

Booker T. Washington, the author of this work concluded that Boley, Oklahoma represented,

“…another chapter in the long struggle of the negro for moral, industrial, and political freedom.”

Based on your reading of the document and the description of Boley it provides, in what ways

does Boley, Oklahoma reflect Washington’s conclusions? 2) Given the period of time in

question, were segregated towns a viable option for blacks to achieve equality during that time?

the artist that created it. Do you feel that the cartoonist has a positive or negative view of

American Expansionism at the turn of 20th century America? On what do you base this view?
