A) Introduction understanding of your family unit and its internal dynamics
The family unit is one of the most valuable social systems, as it is the foundation of relationships that connects people throughout their lifetime. The following provides a snapshot of my family unit as well as related background information. I have a family that consists of five members including me, which are my husband, and my three sons. Moving to America from a foreign country can be a stressful experience. Many kinds of people come to the city of Houston. People and students come to Houston for different purposes. My family commitments were to get a better education for my sons in the US even though my husband is mostly absent due to his work overseas. As a single mother, it is my duty to make sure to support and help my children to maintain their unique way. I have raised my family of three sons with equal care and attention. Despite my efforts to make them share the same thoughts, my children are totally different in their characters and behaviors. My oldest son is a mature and responsible person, as he would never ignore important work. Also, he is socially dominant and extremely conscientious. He is a natural leader personality. Sometimes I feel that he is taking my role as a mom for his younger siblings. He takes care of them and gives them some personal advice. Currently, he is studying and working. My middle son is so smart at school especially in science. He is excellent in his education and always on a high honor role. His dream is becoming a doctor in the future, and he is presently getting some work experience in optometry office. My youngest son is the baby of the family, and he had an immigration case that significantly impacted on his work. Thankfully, he is a legal citizen now.
So, my major social system consists of family, school, work, Husband’s work, Immigration legal services agencies and culture.
I would describe the connection for some of my major social systems as a strong connection because not only are they important to me, but they are related with the same patterns, common values, and beliefs. There are some common and different patterns. Starting with my husband I have a strong connection with him. But I have a weak connection with his work since it is overseas most of the time and I would love for him to find a job in the US. I have a strong relationship with my 3 sons. My oldest and middle one has jobs. They have a strong connection with their work. My youngest one, on the other hand, had a weak relationship with immigration, leading her to not being able to work and drive. I also have a strong relationship with my culture religion and community. However, my sons have a stressful relationship with my culture and community, as they would prefer to adapt to the American society which is different to my own traditions.
B) Theoretical Perspectives Section (4 pages) two different theoretical perspectives covered in this class + Metaphors + highlight the strengths and weaknesses of your family
Explanation: this section is just like applying the appliance theory to a case study assignment that we did where you're going to be looking at your family unit and identifying two of those theories the ecological, the personal environment, the systems. As you describe the perspectives and as you're looking at your family it aligns and everything makes sense and flows together and that's where the metaphors come in after that.
1- Ecological Theory: we can talk about this theory
+2 metaphors
2- Psychodynamic Theory: we can talk about this theory +2 metaphors
C) The final section (2 pages) one (1) problematic family-system interaction and I want to talk about my husband’s absence due to his work overseas and the consequences
Explanation: so, for this section: what is the intervention, the type of intervention, the goals information and then other relevant resources.
so we do need at least 6 APA cited journals because we've talked about how
if we are going to be doing an intervention that there's a huge major issue or problem such: the family wants to spend more time together and the intervention is along the lines of how is the family unit going to be doing such as more vacation or more leisure time or something like that. Also, why are we doing this and that's
where those APA cited journals and that research comes back that we say if a family takes time and does self-care there's less stress and anxiety. That's something we talk about especially as social workers quite often
but what is the research and the basics and the backing for that
we need to make sure that we are supporting what our intervention is and then what it's looking at.
