Egg-and-Muffin Toaster and Egg Poacher
The 2-slice toaster and egg poacher is not your normal toaster because it allows you to cook eggs along with the toasting. When you go to toast your bread, you have the option to put an egg in the steaming tray for poaching, or boiling. Instead of eggs, you could add bacon, sausage, or ham on the warming tray. Figure 1 shows the layout of the appliance and consists of (in order by number): the toaster, the egg poacher, the toaster lever, the toasting time slider, and the cooking option buttons.

1. Toaster
The toaster is where you put your breads to get toasted. The slots are nice and wide so that you could toast bread, bagels, croissants, English muffins, and other thick breads. Inside both of these slots are heating coils that are used for toasting the bread.
2. Egg Poacher
This is the area where you insert your egg or meat to be cooked. You can only cook one type of food at a time. When this part of the appliance is activated, the food item is steam cooked. Before cooking the food item, you have to fill the bottom metal tray with water, then place your food item inside to steam cook it. Figure 2 shows the three different cooking pieces to the egg cooker: the warming tray, the poaching tray, and the steamer tray. The warming tray is used for heating meats like bacon and sausage patties. The poaching tray is a mini frying pan which you crack an egg into, where it is then poached. The steamer tray is for boiling eggs, in which you can place up to four at a time inside.

3. Toaster Lever
After your bread is placed in the toasting slots, you pull this lever down to pull the bread down towards the heating coils. When you pull the lever down fully, the lever will lock in place and the heating coils will activate and begin cooking the bread. When the bread is done toasting, the lever will automatically release and pop the bread up.
4. Toasting Time Slider
This is used to adjust the amount of time the bread is toasted for. The further right the lever is, the longer the bread will be toasted. This should be determined before pulling the toaster lever, but you can adjust it during toasting as well.
5. Cooking Option Buttons
These buttons are used to activate the egg poacher if you wish to use it. If you pull the toaster lever without touching any of these buttons, then the toaster will be the only part of the appliance activated. The “TOAST” Button is activated by default when the toaster lever is pulled. It just toasts bread. If you press the “EGG/TOAST” button after pulling the toaster lever, it will activate the egg poacher for cooking while toasting the bread. The “EGG” button will activate the egg poacher without using the toaster. The “CANCEL” button is used to cancel any and all cooking on the appliance. Figure 3 shows a close-up image of the cooking option buttons.
