b. In part 2 – yes, you can combine sources
8. Structure/ approach for part 2
a. For first question – make claims and then support them
b. For second question – providing suggestions/ strategies + describing how to appraise the literature/ research

a. No. For part 1, ALL THREE must be journal articles, but the other 2 you use can be other sources (e.g., textbook, books, professional literature)
10. What reference style?
a. APA – google ‘APA Purdue’ for a good guide

13. Do the journals/ article contexts have to be specific to Australia/ or my method?
a. No. But you should be able to talk about how you will apply to your context
14. Where is the marking criteria?
a. In the course outline, pp. 10-11
15. When to use page numbers for in-text references?

ii. Example text “example text” (Author, 2015, p. 15)
16. How to order authors when providing multiple citations?
a. Alphabetical order, NOT chronological. The authors should appear in the same order as the reference list

b. If more than one author per paper, alphabetise by first author’s surname
17. What do I do with stats, d = etc.?
a. You don’t need to give the specific numbers (but you can), focus on the implications/ themes
18. Do references count in the word count?
a. No
19. How strict is word count?
a. In general +/- 10% -> ~ 2,700-3,300
20. What about arguments for conflicting evidence bases etc.?
a. For part 1, avoid. Find three articles that had clear results
b. For part 2, you can consider. You might talk about how it is important to appraise the literature when looking at evidence, talk about generalisability, etc.
i. What do you mean by generalisability?
1. How applicable are the findings/ implications to other contexts?
21. Can we take readings from the course readings?
a. Yes
22. Is EndNote available?
a. Yes, it is
23. What does five citations mean?
a. Five DIFFERENT references, not 1 reference cited 5 times

25. Time management
a. Check the abstract first, then discussion/ conclusion
b. You are looking for implications, so take out what is necessary
26. Is there a limit on citations?
a. No, you can have as many as needed
27. What if a paper had multiple interventions/ EBPs?
a. That is fine, choose your EBP and focus on that
b. You might talk about how it can be combined in your ‘ways it can be applied in your classroom section’
28. Where should the introduction come?
a. Before the tables, first element
29. What should the intro include?

30. What about meta-analyses?
a. For part 1, avoid, make it easier for both of us and choose a single-study. You can use meta-analyses to find single-studies from their reference list
b. For part 2, these can be useful to give an overview of the literature
31. Do you need to analyse the ‘applicability’ of the research in the ‘how it will be applied in my classroom’ section?
a. No, think about this, but only write about what your practice will look like
