Article Review Assignment Instructions

Article Review: Validity and Reliability

Review must:

· Follow all APA guidelines, including style and grammar rules.

· Be 2 pages in length, plus the title and reference pages. You are not required to write an introduction and conclusion.

· Include three sections, with the following headings:

Article Summary

This section should:

· Be written in third person. Your writing should be academic and professional.

· Demonstrate an analysis of the author’s thesis.

· Provide a thorough summary of the author’s main points written in a concise and scholarly manner that is 1 page in length.

· Open with a strong thesis statement about the topic(s). [Do not begin with “This article is about...”]

· Include appropriate in-text citations following APA format. Paraphrase the information from the article; do NOT directly quote any of the material.

Article Analysis

This section should:

· Be written in first person, as this is your opinion and analysis of the topic.

· Articulate your reaction to the article, explaining why you agree or disagree with the article.

· Include detailed reasons to support your expressed opinion.

· Be 1 paragraph in length (about a half page).

· Not include information taken directly from the article but should express your own thoughts and feelings about the article. (No quotations)

Personal Reflection

This section should:

· Be written in first person and reflect on how to apply article content to your students and professional practice within your own present or future practice.

· Be 1 paragraph in length (about a half page).

· Not include information taken directly from the article but should be your own thoughts concerning application of that information. (No quotations)

· Include a separate reference page with a single source for the original article in APA format. Do not use any other sources except the original article.
