Patient care
A good relationship between a nurse and a patient is usually essential since a patient receives proper care. Therefore, it is ethical to say that high-quality nursing is usually dependent on the nurse-patient relationship. The nurse-patient relationship is usually regarded as an interpersonal process that develops after some time. The nurse-patient relationship is professional in that a patient requires a nurse's help, and a nurse has sufficient knowledge to provide such help. The main purpose of the patient-nurse relationship is to ensure a patient recovers from the disease and regains strength. The nurse-patient relationship is usually characterized by various elements such as compassion, caring, respect, as well as trust.
The nurse-patient relationship should not involve patients being objects to be cared for and nurses completing their tasks. This is because such an uncaring relationship can result in unnecessary suffering for patients. In most cases, a good nurse-patient relationship is formed in the patient's residence. Additionally, these patients usually have chronic diseases such as diabetes or old age. The purpose of this paper is to conduct a study on the nurse-patient relationship from both perspectives, not from a single perspective.
The research question that is being focused on is how the nurse-patient relationship can improve a patient’s health. The role of a nurse is to improve the quality of a patient's life. This can be achieved when nurses are at an all-time present to take care of patients. Through the appropriate nurse-patient relationship, patients can benefit and have a positive experience with nurse care. Therefore, a better understanding of a nurse-patient relationship improves patient's health. A patient's health does not only involve illness but also physical, emotional, mental, and social well‐being.
