• You will submit your paper as a PDF to Canvas by midnight on Friday, October 4th.

Your first paper will be a visual analysis based upon your observations and interests in one of the 5 works of art provided. 

This written assignment is based upon what we've learned so far with  Section 1: Elements and Principles.(click to review the Elements and Principles).  Refer to the lectures if you need help finding artists or movements to research. A few things to think about when writing:

- How are the Elements and Principles being utilized in the work(s)?   - How do the elements create the principles, specifically?  - How do the established principles affect the viewer's interaction with the piece?  - How do the visual elements/principles set a mood or tone for the work?  - How do they interact with the conceptual aspect of the work?

SPECIFICATIONS FOR ASSIGNMENT:

· You must write in an academic and professional tone,

· Do not use first person("I" "me" "my") or second person ("you" "your") perspective - you must use 3rd person perspective. 

· 3-4 pages of text,  typed - double spaced.  

· 12 pt, Times New Roman

· You must save your file as a PDF and upload to Canvas

· Save your paper as "LastName_FirstName_AssignmentTitle" - ex: Lamb_Bree_Paper1

· ALL ILLUSTRATIONS AND CITATIONS WILL BE INCLUDED ON A SEPARATE PAGE AT THE END OF YOUR DOCUMENT AND ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE 2-3 PAGES OF TEXT.

Include:

· Reference to the chosen work of art

· Bibliography (You must use reputable internet sources - do NOT use Textbook or Wikipedia. Books and electronic journals  are good. This is an exercise in research.)

· Citations - You need to acknowledge all sources of information - footnotes, appendix at back of paper or in text citing is OK. NO citations  will translate into NO points for this paper. Failure to acknowledge sources is academic fraud and cheating!
