Quick, short reflection

ASSIGNMENT 1 – Due on Wednesday, April 8 by 4:00pm

1. Please read article linked below “Design in the Age of Pandemics”.

2. Write a short reflection (about 2 or 3 paragraphs – you can write more, if you wish), in which

you answer the following questions:

- How does the Coronavirus pandemic affect how we think about design of

buildings and cities? Do we need to think differently about the relationship

between design and health, in this current environment?

Summarize key ideas from the article and add your own.

- Think about the impact of the virus on our society and on how we design housing.

How would you design housing (single-family homes, condos, or apartment

buildings, for example) to make people more comfortable and healthy during the

pandemic? Brainstorm and write at least one paragraph to answer this question.

Read the article again to get ideas. Feel free to include sketches to illustrate your

ideas.

3. Upload your short text as a Word file, in Teams, no later than 4pm on Wednesday, April 8.

These submissions will be “time-stamped”.
