Calling Versus Texting

Cell phones have continued to play a significant factor in communication in today`s world. Cell phones can be used in two different ways during communication. One can decide to either use a text or call, which are both effective ways of communication. Both calling and texting offer their [delete] unique ways of communication, which is not offered by the other way. [delete—redundant] As similar they might seem to be, they both have their differences which are based on the uniqueness of their advantages and disadvantages.

Deciding to use a call as a means of communication has its unique advantages and disadvantages. When making a phone call, one receives immediate feedback that they require the things they need to know. {vague—what does this mean?] Another advantage of calling is that the conversation is private between the two parties, and there are no chances of intrusion of [into] their conversation. The chances of a third party, understanding what you are communicating are minimal. Calling can be used as a means of reaching out to anyone on the planet regardless of their location.[really? No remote locations without phone service?] Calling mostly seems to benefit the businesses since all the calls made within the organization are absolutely free.[not clear] The disadvantages associated with a calling are that another person may pick the call for you [????] whenever you are not around the cell phone. Another disadvantage is that in case the other party is engaged, then you cannot be able to [delete] talk to the other party whenever you want. Every minute that is spent on the cell phone needs to be paid for. [doesn’t that depend on the cell phone plan? What if you are on a land line? Any difference?] Whenever there is noise, the quality of the call may be interfered with.

Whenever one decides to use texts as a means of communication, there are different advantages and disadvantages that may be associated with the means of communication. One of the advantages is that whenever one is engaged in their cell phones,[awkward] then the message can effectively be received by the other party. In case there is [delete] noise that [delete] will not interfere with the communication made through texting since the other party will effectively [delete and replace with “can still”]read your message. The internet-based messages are absolutely free, meaning one is not expected [???]to pay for the message, and people can use the internet supported messages where ever they are. The disadvantages associated with texting are that one may fail to receive immediate feedback. That is because the other party may be held up, increasing the chances of failing to hear the text message.[how does one “hear’ a text message??]  The conversation can easily be intruded [delete. Replace with “read later”] by a third party in case the text messages are not deleted, and someone gains access to the cell phone. Texting can be an expensive means of communication within an organization because of its charges.[explain]

Although texting and calling may sound to be [delete] similar, people do not think of their differences beyond the fact that one is a verbal means of communication, and the other one requires using a set of words.[vague—both use “sets of words”] There are different questions that people need to ask themselves whenever making decisions on the means of communication they wish to use. Some of them include; What is the urgency of the communication? What is the privacy associated with communication? Calling can be the best option to use for communication when answering such questions. [Doesn’t that DEPEND upon the answer to the questions?]

While this is well organized, the sentences are disappointing—did you receive some help with this from someone? The sentences are not consistent with what I have read from you all semester. There is a new and different level of vagueness, so if you are receiving “help” from someone, I strongly suggest you decline such help when you write the final essay.
