Annotated Bibliography for Research Paper
Annotated Bibliography for Research Paper
Research Paper Topic:
Examine how stories have shaped the collective American consciousness in big or small ways continually support existing power structures. Consider visual depictions of native people or minority groups as they are represented in media/film. Your chosen media will function as your primary source, and you will connect King’s ideas to your own observations.
Requirements:
· At least four secondary academic sources in MLA format, annotated; One resource is: King, Thomas. The Truth About Stories: A Native Narrative. Minneapolis: University of Minnesota Press, 2003.
· Your annotations should be about 150-200 words and summarize and evaluate—in particular, you will need to evaluate the source in order to note of any need-to-know information that might be crucial to your understanding of the author(s) position.
· All sources must be credible articles derived from the provided libguide, Galileo databases, books, or e-books from the library’s collection. Websites (if used, websites must be credible) or articles from a textbook may count as additional sources, but they do not meet this research requirement. Stories are primary sources and also do not meet this research requirement. You may not use the Bible, Wikipedia, answers.com, Cliff’s Notes, SparkNotes, or other study guides for this assignment.
· Each entry will begin with a MLA citation followed by an annotation for the source. An annotation is a brief paragraph that summarizes the source: it gives an overview of the source, concisely explaining the thesis or main purpose and describing its contents. It often offers an evaluative comment as well (i.e. this source is well researched and contains a useful glossary).
· Be sure to document your sources meticulously as you read (include page numbers), this will cause much less of a headache for you when you begin to write your research paper.
