Gabbiadini, A. (2012). Does Exposure to Violent Video games Increase Moral Disengagement among Youths? Journal of Adolescence. Pp. 1403-1405
According to article above violence associated with video games is due to the influence of drugs from those participating in them. The influence of drugs makes them to make rash decisions which can be said are made without thinking. These people end up engaging in fights which causes loss of property and even at times loss of lives. The author of the article is a counsellor and thus he is well acquainted with the issues affecting the young generation. The writer has also done a lot of research in various gaming platforms and institutions that offer these games. He concluded that the main cause of violence is drug abuse by those participating. Those who observed discipline did not engage in violence according to the research. I find the article resourceful while writing my project.
Primack Brian (2009). Video Games. American Journal of Preventive Medicine. Pp. 379
The writer of the above material has been involved in a lot of research concerning the violence brought by the video games and thus developing the article. The writer is a professor of psychology and is currently working at a psychological research institute. According to this article the author writes that continued exposure to violent video games and materials affects the brain development in a child. This is in a way that many of them will grow thinking that the best way to acquire something from a friend is through violent means. There are some emotions also developed due to this exposure to violent videos which are rudeness and lack of respect to other people. This will eventually lead to bad conduct among youths and poor social conduct. Those involved in these games are said to lack natural cognition and they have an aggressive behaviour towards everyone.
Brad J. Bushman (2012). Development of Human Brain in Relation to Environment. pp. 56-61. Psychology and Research.
The writer of this psychological article is a doctor of psychology in the National Hospital for The Mentally Challenged. He argues that the violence that is rampant in today`s society has been at a greater percentage been caused by the continuous exposure to violent video games to youths. The young generation is trying to apply what they are used to watching in these materials. Through a series of research the author argues that the brain of a human being is likely to practice what is exposed to it; if at any one time a child grows in a violent environment the child will develop problems in dealing with other people. This is as a result of development of aggressive behaviour that develops within the child; the behaviour will always lead the child to not recognizing the rights of others and will always offend them. Such people at times will be isolated where they will lead lonely lives.
Robert Johnson (2010). The effects of Violent Videogames to Teenagers. Theory and research.
The article has been written by a teenager who has immense knowledge with the impacts of violent video games. The writer is a victim of the influence created by increased exposure to this video games. The writer was once jailed due to violent behaviour among his teens. The writer says in the article that through increased exposure to the violent clips he develop a feeling of always willing to practice what he watched. Through the practise he ended up abusing the rights of others. He says that he hated it when there were confrontations of any kind for his only option was to stage a fight against the opponent. Through increased acts of violence the writer says he once almost killed a colleague in college as they were arguing. The writer suggests that the influence of these video materials should only be exposed to young adults under parental guidance. The article will help me in proving my points.
Douglas A. (2008). Rated T for Think First. General OneFile
The author points out clearly in this article that even if the kids exposed to these violent video games will grow to be felons since their behaviour will be influenced. The writer suggests that parents should monitor the programmes viewed by their kids. This will help them in either advising them or cancelling the programmes by giving awareness about the negative effects of these programmes. The writer argues that when the brain of a kid is exposed to any influencing materials such as violent games, such individuals develop feelings of majesty and superiority which might end up causing harm in future. The behaviour develops in kids as they cannot comprehend between fantasy and real.
Craig Anderson, Douglas Gentile and Katherine Buckley (2007). Violent Videogame Effects on Children and Adolescents: Theory Research, and Public Policy. Pp.767-785
The article provides a research on whether there is any scientific evidence to the change of behaviour due to exposure to violent video games. The developers and authors of the article have done a lot of surveys on parents, psychologists, children and teachers. They have concluded that if an individual is brought up in an environment where people tend to care for the rights of each other. The individual will automatically be assimilated to the system. The same thing will happen when an individual is exposed to a violent environment the person will develop aggressive behaviour to fit in the society. The brain and human behaviour is totally influenced by what is exposed to it. When a kid is exposed to violent video games and not well nurtured and advised the child will grow to become a violent individual in the future, this is due to the continued exposure to violence.
