Choose and use appropriate keyword within ProQust or J-Store academic databases to locate likely (not final) articles that will help you write your paper, and summarize each in 4 lines or more below the citation of each article.
You are required to in addition to the instructions on the Syllabus and Assignments:

· Avoid relying on book reviews and abstracts and rely on full articles.

· Avoid articles with marginal relevance.

· Your comments should be proportionate to the length of the article, but no less
than five lines

· Include minimum of 10 articles.
FIRST, list the citation in correct citation style. (This is only an example from Newspaper. Yours will be from academic journals):
"OPPOSE ZIONIST PLAN :Syrians Adopt Resolutions of Protest at Brooklyn Meeting. . " New York Time, 9 Nov. 1918.
[Then, describe the article like this in double space]:
Five hundred Syrians belonging to the Hamallah Young Men’s Society of New York protested against
the formation of any government based upon religious principles. The Society was also against the usurpation of the homes and property of the rightful inhabitants of Palestine through an artificial scheme to import Zionist. The excessive number of new immigrants would exceed the natural capacity of the land, which would force the emigration of Palestinian Arabs.
Another example:
PHILIP HITTI, "THE DISPOSITION OF SYRIA :A Single Protectorate Preferred to a Division Among Many Nations," New York Times, Feb 2, 1919.
[Then brief description]:
Philip Hitti argues that the disposition if a divided Syrian would be fraught with dangers and
difficulties, both on a local and international level. Internationally viewed, a divided Syrian contains all the elements necessary for a future explosion that will disturb the peace of the whole world. Locally, a divided Syria would disrupt an interdependent economic system. This interdependence was clearly demonstrated when the Turks cut off the food supply to Lebanon from the mountains, and without access to the fertile plains of Hauran, one-third of the Lebanese population starved. The solution would be to

keep the unity of Syria as a federation state, under the trusteeship of the US, with the condition to withdraw as soon as its inhabitants can perform the function of full self-government.
