Documented Argument Essay, Draft 2

3 Dec. 2021

Should Public College be Free?

Public college should be free as a social incentive that will allow college graduates to

land job opportunities that earn them more than non-graduates to ensure social inequalities.

Public colleges offering free courses will ensure that students can register and undertake courses

that will allow them to become competitive relative to their colleagues who can foot the school

bills (Perna et al., 2017). Hence, free public colleges will ensure that society will experience

improvement of social welfare since everyone will be able to sustain themselves and reduce the

dependency ratio. Additionally, with better-paying jobs, people will be able to contribute to the

national revenue through their taxes, ensuring the nation will grow and have all the needed

public goods essential to sustain people.

Consequently, most jobs require a college degree in contemporary society which makes it

a necessity to qualify. Thereby, making the public colleges offer their services free will ensure

that the society can produce individuals who meet the demand of having people who have

degrees for the jobs which are floated. It will allow people to be in employment, which will

reduce the problems that would arise due to lack of jobs, such as crimes. Hence, when public

colleges are free, it will ensure that society can put more people through the schooling system,

Don't start with your thesis -- start with a hook (Try Googling the phrase "quotes about education" or "quotes about free tuition." Your thesis should be the last sentence of your introduction.

The PRO side is Side A --you have a lot of explanation here. The CON side is Side B -- you have not explained Side B at all. Remember, the intro is to provide background about what the controversy IS, not to argue for your side.

wc -- This sounds like the government is going to come in and say "Hey! You have to make your classes free!" You can simplify and just say "free tuition will ensure..." or you can clarify the process.

changing their thinking and growing their critical thinking and decision-making capacity (Perna

et al., 2017). Additionally, with more jobs needed for a degree qualification, the outcomes will

be improved to meet the societal demands that keep on becoming complicated. Therefore, people

will be receiving goods and services that meet their tastes and preferences since they will b of

high quality.

Public colleges need to be free to ensure that the students graduate from the schools and

can come from them without the burden of the debts they need to service after their schooling.

When the students graduate with loans, they are subjected to expenses that will make them have

the hardship of settling with life after school. Further, some students are expected to give back to

society as a return to investment. It is from all the resources that have been used to invest in them

for their education. Also, to make them independent in life (Jackson, 2018). Offering free college

education from the public colleges will ensure the students who graduate from the institutions

have the mileage to establish themselves to the society after school without hardship and burden

that they cannot avoid. The students will be motivated to take insurance covers that secure their

future and compensate for their long periods in school.

In conclusion, public colleges offering free education services will be an effective social

welfare incentive to ensure that the biases that have always existed in society are eradicated, and

people are offered equal opportunities. A free college education will increase productivity since a

more skilled workforce will be produced in society through college training courses. Students

will be relieved from the burden of repaying students’ loans after school. Therefore, the problem

of inequality will be eradicated from society.
