COVID Impacts

Starting in March 2020, Amazon Operations had to undergo some serious changes at the site level to coincide with CDC Guidelines. Read Amazon COVID related articles (https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/company-news/update-on-how-were-protecting-employees (Links to an external site.) and https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/company-news/amazons-covid-19-blog-updates-on-how-were-responding-to-the-crisis (Links to an external site.)) and review the below changes in the policies and procedures at Amazon. Utilize the narrative writing format to summarize how the environment impacts the launch onboarding plan and what those impacts are.

Associate/Warehouse Team Member Pre COVID:

1. 2 days of formal training total

2. Training 5 to 1 ratio for new associate training with a training ambassador. Larger group trainings with live demonstrations and shadowing rotations.

3. Train around working/processing stations in the fulfillment center

Associate/Warehouse Team Member Post COVID:

1. 2 days of formal training total

2. 3 separate classrooms – 12 associates max

3. Ambassadors demonstrate processes, but no hands-on or live trainings

4. Once ready to hit floor – Ambassadors help up to 5 associates throughout the different stations

New associates are supported by Process Assistants and Learning Ambassadors are extra support. Regional Learning Teams create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) which are embedded in a training library. Instruction is the same regardless of item/product/type of Fulfillment Center (FC).
