The teacher could also employ oral spelling exams or assistive technology to level the playing field and meet Nancy's demands. Working with a special education teacher or inclusion specialist to build a personalized education plan (IEP) for Nancy could help meet her needs in both self-contained and general education settings.

Scenario 2

The scenario described is an example of a modification. Robert's teacher changed the reading assignment to focus on the primary idea only, while the rest of the class must identify the main idea and supporting information. This modification matches Robert's reading ability, letting him tackle the curriculum without feeling overwhelmed.

Houdini should handle Winston's trust and vulnerability with compassion. Winston should know he's there for him and that his well-being is essential. Mr. Houdini should emphasize Winston's safety and emotional health and discuss confidentiality, explaining that he wants to help but may need to involve the school counselor, principal, or Winston's parents if necessary. Winston should get information from Mr. Houdini about LGBTQ+ support groups inside and outside the school. Finally, he should encourage Winston to have an honest dialogue with his parents, emphasizing that while it may be difficult, it may build understanding and support. Mr. Houdini should lead Winston through this crucial life transition with compassion.

Ms. Anderson should be concerned about the way she handled the email distribution. She accidentally breached the privacy of Special Education parents and their children by putting all their email addresses on one line without BCC. This violates their confidentiality and may reveal critical program enrolment information. Ms. Anderson should apologize for the oversight and prevent future privacy breaches to maintain trust and legal compliance.
