Slavery and Reconstruction

My thoughts on the issue of having a nation that respects all regardless of their race or gender is that it requires all the citizens of the country to support the move because if a group has a different opinion regarding equality, then it will be difficult to achieve the desire of having a nation that treats all equally. When leaders who are for equality are in power, it will be possible to achieve but also, they are supposed to put in place measures that will promote their idea even when they will be out of power. By doing so, it will be possible to implement their desire of protecting the rights of all and the same will continue even when they are not around to protect their ideas.

The efforts of Americans who wanted to see America as a united democratic nation was dismantled by Jim Crow because he did not support the idea of having a nation that threatens all the citizens equally. Also, the Ku Klux Klan did not support democracy and used lunching as a way of instilling fear to those who were against them. Consequently therefore, slavery continued and also equality did not exceed between different groups based on the race gender and even the social class. It is important for those who are fighting for democracy and other good things to others to have measures that will help in protecting what they have done to the citizens before other who does not support the ideas reverses everything like what Jim Crow and the Ku Klux Klan did.
